Training Day (Open)

[Matrim]

Block out the man pain.... block out the man pain....... block out the man pain.....

"Sonovabitch....." Matrim limped a bit, and for a second he was vulnerable. Something about distractions and nerve endings and the cheapness of the shot, but for a second there he was completely vulnerable, or at least felt like he was. His shield was holding, but it was on a downward path, three, four attack patterns maybe before things started going further south. That was the optimistic guess anyway.

"Don't insult me with such foolish openings, Matrim. I'll show you my Qi, if you prove yourself worth my using it on you."

"Ok then."

Didn't Alex say the same thing? In the end he won.... but barely. His Qi doesn't break through my shield, instead it has it's other.... abilities.... fire being able to suck oxygen away. Suffocation first, then smoke damage......

Matrim knew he couldn't try any stupid moves. He was already going full out but he had to be a little smarter. Sadly, he wasn't able to just press a button and make himself a brilliant strategist.

She's small... which is to my disadvantage.... she's faster, stronger, smarter, so far the only thing keeping me in this fight is her patience. She's testing me...... taunting me.....

Matrim put his fists up, right one slightly lower then the left, feet shoulder width apart with his left foot slightly more forward. He was getting into a boxing stance, a makeshift one considering he was already worn in a bit, but a decent one at that. He took a step forward and sent his right fist in for a haymaker to her side, keeping his left fist up to defend his face.

God..... nothing works on this woman. I really am out of my league here, even started going back to the basics.

"Fine." Matrim

"Fine." Luyu smiled. He had thrown a punch at her, some sort of boxing move she thought. It was aimed straight for her face and she sidestepped left.

The woman realized that they had made a full circle around the mats, they were right back where they had started. She moved backwards, grounding her hind foot. Moving around the boy, she placed a hard palm hand in the square of his back, which would send him sprawling unless he could find a way to avoid it.

Moving in a wide, circle, Luyu stayed clear from him. She was starting to get bored, perhaps she should end the fight. She had to give the boy credit, though, he was doing better than she had exp. . . even though it was a thought, the word was cut off halfway.

Her foot stepped on a stray weight, having seperated from the weights he had thrown at her. In that fraction of a moment, Luyu was off balance and vulnerable, also close to where she had sent Matrim sprawling. Her eyes widened at her foolishness, for she should have been looking at the ground.

The Band Teacher wondered if her opponent would notice.

[Matrim]

Matrim took a hard hit to the small of his back, which he had landed on earlier. If he were to check right now his weak points would be his chest and back. His sore points would be the shin and back of the head. The parts that hurt worse then they really should.... self explanitory. However it wasn't long before she started to stumble right before his eyes.

Yes!

Matrim kicked off the ground and pushed off with his hands, he grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her down to the Mat while simultaneously putting his legs acrossed her chest, crossing before her other arm. He was attempting to put her in an arm bar, if he laid back on the mat with her arm fully extended it would be game over, she would have to use her Qi, if she somehow managed to connect both her hands she could resist the arm bar and they'd just be wrestling on the floor. Either way he was aiming for one thing and one thing alone.

What the hell is your Qi. If I can hear that, then I consider myself satisfied for the night.....

The woman cursed as she fell. The boy descended upon her isntantly, knocking her to the ground before she could correct herself. The weight slammed square into her back and Luyu's hazel eyes narrowed. How annoying.

He gripped her arm and moved to put her in an arm bar. She recognized it immediately, and wriggled in an attempt to get away from him, clasping her hands together. With a sigh, she decided that it was time to show him her Qi. Poor kid.

In one fluid motion, the woman pressed herself against his stomach, bringing her knees up between them. Grabbing his shoulders, she rolled him on top of her. It looked as if she was going to lift him with her calves, but instead her eye twinkled and her lips parted, barely.

Using her Qi, Luyu sent a massive force of waves straight at Matrim, though he was only a few inches from her face. Having developed the technique long ago, she focused the blast straight at his collarbone, where she had hit him earlier. The teacher had noticed that her physical assaults knocked him back and he could feel them, though the shield seemed to deaded it. If his shield would protect him from her using her Qi to get inside of him, then she would use it as pure, physical force.

Due to the angle that she had positioned them in, the boy shot backward and slammed into the far wall. She stood, her mouth still open. The force of the waves continued, letting him drop a bit before slamming into him again a few seconds later.

Standing, the woman dusted herself off. "Have you figured out my Qi yet, Matrim?" Luyu's soft voice reached his ears, the waves made sure of that. The woman didn't know if her student had realized that the waves were coming from her voice, for she hadn't allowed any sign of her using her Qi to show other than slightly parted lips.

"Let me know when your shield wears out, so I don't accidentally kill you." Placing a hand on her hip, she stopped the waves and let him drop.

[Matrim]

"Have you figured out my Qi yet, Matrim?"

The Qi was powerful, too powerful. Not only was Matrim thrown off by her ability to wrestle.

note to self: ask for lessons if she's willing to teach, maybe she knows more moves then I do.

But on top of that her Qi was far too advanced for his shield. It did something it had only done when he wasn't able to hold it, and his Qi was screwed up after killing Micha. It shattered. Like light amounts of glass his shield would now be slightly visible, almost like he was tan in some areas and slightly not as much in others, with a broken glass pattern covering his skin. Then the force sent him flying, straight up, straight up and up. He was feeling the injuries from earlier a lot worse, his back was sore and his chest was giving him a lot of breathing trouble. He saw the ground grow further and further away until his back hit the ceiling.

And then, the fall.

"Motherfu-" He got caught off by the sound of the ground rushing upward, he landed hard on the Mat on his chest. He avoided any major damage luckily, with the exception of his collar bone and back. They were pretty badly beat.

I see pain killers and a bandaged torso in my future.....

"Let me know when your shield wears out, so I don't accidentally kill you."

Those were the last words he heard before he went flying, "Yeah..... it's gone," Matrim coughed out without moving his body. He was completely immobile at the moment, "Umm.... you win."

duh...

Matrim attempted to raise his arm to push himself up, he managed to lift his hand and extend his pointer finger, "Guess I'll sleep good tonight...."

Anybody need a talking paperweight? Thats about all I'm good for as of right now......

Luyu walked calmly over to the student. Apparently his shield had given out before his colliding into the ceiling. She could barely contain a smirk. Perhaps next time he would say please and use a kinder tone when asking her to show him things.

"Guess I'll sleep good tonight...." Matrim said, pointing to the ceiling. The woman couldn't help but chuckle softly. She had ended her Qi and knelt down beside him, checking gently for broken bones. "I'm not sure what made you challenge me, Matrim Gallagher," Luyu said softly, "but next time try to be a little bit more prepared."

The woman's gentle chuckle filled the gym as looked down at him. "Let's get you to the nurse. I didn't break anything, but you have some welts and bruises developing where I hit you."

Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, the small woman pulled him up as gently as she could. "Let's get you to the nurse, young man. Can you walk or would you like me to get a stretcher?" The last bit had a bit of a tease to it.

[Matrim]

"Heh..... yeah.... sure.... and give you the satisfaction?" Matrim put his legs down on the ground, "I'm fine as long as you act as a crutch..... also, it's late. I wouldn't want to bother the nurse for this. I have some bandages in my dorm, I think as long as I can manage to get some help there I'll be able to bandage myself pretty well. I'll come back for my bag and medicine tomorrow."

Man this hurts.... ouch.... my pride.....

Matrim attempted to laugh but it only hurt when he laughed. He got his butt kicked fair and square, but at least he knew something. He knew what this teacher was capable of.

Sound waves made into pure destruction.... pretty nifty. Guess thats something to make note of for future reference.

"Gotta admit, you can really belt out."

"I'm fine as long as you act as a crutch..... also, it's late. I wouldn't want to bother the nurse for this. I have some bandages in my dorm, I think as long as I can manage to get some help there I'll be able to bandage myself pretty well. I'll come back for my bag and medicine tomorrow." The woman wasn't sure that was a good idea, but she wasn't going to force the boy into doing anything he didn't want to. "Alright, if that's how you want it. I'll help you get to your dorm, and if you need help with the bandages I suppose I can offer my assistance." She tried her best to hide the amusement in her voice. This was the first time she had beaten someone and then helped them out.

She helped him limp to the door of the gym and lifted her foot, pressing it against the push part of the door. It swung open easily and she used strong but silent sound waves to hold it open so that they could pass through.

"Gotta admit, you can really belt out." This time, her laughter sounded rich in the hallway. He had no idea what she could do. Parting her lips, the song of a canary danced through the empty hall, bouncing around. "I can do things like that, too, but I didn't think you'd run from a bird call." I can also make your eardrums explode or make your entire body disitigrate She thought with a smile.

"I must admit, your shield is pretty impressive. I don't know if many other students would have been able to last as long as you did." Luyu complimented him, having caught site of the wounded pride painted all over his face when helping him up. She did her best to help him restore a little, but not too much. Boys his age needed to get knocked down every once in a while.

[Matrim]

"Oh I don't know, the really old movie 'Birds' scared the shit out of me when I was a kid." Matrim said as she sang, he hobbled along to his room, "Yeah if you feel so inclined to help me out that would be great."

Matrim opened his dorm room when they got to it, he didn't bother to check if Darien was asleep in his bed or out but he made his way in, leading the way towards his bed where he let go of Luyu and rolled himself onto the bed. He reached with his right hand while stretched out on his back to open his nightstand and pulled out some medical supplies.

He was always taught to have something handy when he was training and travelling alone the past few years. After all, it wasn't like anyone else was going to do him any favors. He pulled out some pain killers and handed some bandages to Luyu, "Hey," He said as if explaining why he was having her help, "You offered."

Thanks for actually fighting me and even giving me some sort of chance. In the end I'm glad you held back that much.

"Oh I don't know, the really old movie 'Birds' scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Yeah if you feel so inclined to help me out that would be great." The woman chuckled. He seemed like an ok kid, making jokes through his obvious pain.

Helping him into his dormroom, Luyu wondered if there would be a roomate they were awakening in the middle of the night. She wasn't sure how the other kid would feel to a female teacher barging in in the middle of the night, but she decided it didn't really matter. She was just going to help Matrim then go walk around then go to sleep. Well, maybe straight to sleep, no walking.

Flopping onto his bed, the boy pulled out a first aid kit and opened it, handing her some bandages. "Hey, you offered." Luyu chuckled softly. "That I did." Setting them aside for now, she rifled through the box until she found a small tin of salve. It would ease his bruises while they healed, the torn muscles would cause a constant ache otherwise. Taking some onto her fingers, she gently applied it to the areas she had damaged. Helping him to sit up, she applied it to his back.

Lifting the bandages, the woman hummed softly as she worked. It reminded her of living on the reservation. A real hospital had been too far away and when the medicine woman had been gone, Luyu had always offered to bandage the hurt tribe members. It had been her honor.

Now it was different, bandaging a student she herself had harmed, but it still gave her the same feeling. Even the salve smelled the same. "Don't forget to go and see the nurse tomorrow," She said softly, the song of the canary had ceased upon entering the room, "and don't go picking any fights for a few days. At least, not with any more teachers." Luyu laughed and stepped back. He was completely bandaged and had popped his pain meds.

"Go to sleep, Matrim Gallagher." The woman said with a smile, making her way out of the room. Before closing the door, she used her Qi to take a few words directly to his ears, as if she were there to whisper them, "This is not a valid excuse to skip class."

Luyu made her way out of the dorms and to the teacher's suites. She had stopped sleeping in Kane's apartments since his death and her old rooms were some little comfort. Laying on her bed, the woman slipped easily into a sleep filled with dreams of her lost Kane.

"Go to sleep Matrim Gallagher."

Don't have to tell me twice....

Luyu put the salve and bandages on him and he felt like a kid being tucked in to bed. He wasn't reminded of heart warming memories of a mother or even a family member tucking him like this. He didn't get close with his father no matter how many times his father tried to get close with him, his grandfather died when he was still relatively young, and he hadn't had a mother growing up. In fact his father never told him about his mother. He just figured he was adopted or something, even though it was remarkable how many facial qualities he shared with his father.

"Night teach," Matrim rested his head back as she left, he knew he would be pretty sore the next day, but now he knew the Qi ability of one of the major teachers. This was information he was going to need for his plans, and even though he put himself in harms way, at least he gathered some intel for the operation.

We have to silence her..... at least for that part of her power..... we have to silence her.

Matrim drifted into sleep, he wasn't feeling any guilt for his future betrayal. After all, it was nothing personal, it was just politics. Not to mention he felt that fighting wasn't anything serious as far as insulting people or anything. Fighting was almost like a bonding experience, hell, he and Luyu seemed pretty friendly now after she kicked his ass. That's what he was aiming for.
