He nodded as he listened. Obviously she had gone to school to grab her teaching license, in english at least. He had a major in science and a minor in art, as he took lessons from Emma when they had dated at 253 and he became quite good.
She then spoke about living alone in the woods and going to therapy. For what cause he thought. "Why did you have the therapy?" he asked her.
The way she said it he knew something bad had happened, and now he was worried that was what had caused the recent cuts. There wasn't many people that could make her do that, the only one he seemed to remember was her parents, who had started the cutting sessions she had done. "Them?" he asked hoping she would know who he was talking about.
Sam sighed and nodded her head slowly. She gently rubbed her left arm and looked back up at him. "I went to get better...to not be so hateful...because well...I wanted to find out if I could get better...not for my cutting...but for my hate. I had even started dating someone."
She sighed once more giving a weak smile. "But because of them my hate returned...and chased him off..."

WHAT!?!! She dated someone and lost him? Bloody ashes! He screamed in his head. He had hated her parents before for selling everything she had for their addiction and causing her to become depressed and cut herself.
He held her in a tight hug and felt sorry for her. He had kept her safe and away from hurting herself in high school and he thought he was helping her get better but knew that he wouldn't help solve the problem.
"I'm so sorry Sam." he said and looked at her. "But like I said I'll do whatever I can to keep you safe, your family after all" he said smiling trying to make her feel better. "And no offense but if he didn't fight to keep you he wasn't worth it, and I know an awesome girl like you can find better." he said trying to make her happy again.
She smiled and hugged him. For now she wouldn't worry about it, for now she was safe. "You're right...I don't blame myself for that...just wish it had gone better...and well...that's not all..."
Sam sighed again wondering if she should tell him about the loan. He would listen she knew, but then he might try and help her. Still Sam wouldn't take money from him to pay off her debt. Not to them.

He pulled away a bit and gave her a skeptical look. That wasn't all? What else was there? He didn't mind her keeping secrets as long as it didn't somehow relate to her hurting herself. He then gave a sigh.
"Alright, so what is it that isn't all? You know I will listen, I'm your 'brother' after all." he said with a laugh. He didn't expect her to tell him but he at least would give her the option of it to know he cared about her.
He looked around to make sure no one was around, he didn't like other people in on family matters unless it was with something that needed an opinion or was a cherry family matter. Like an idea for a name for Emma and Mat's child that Emma wanted to have.
Sam thought how to tell him, she tried to plan it out in her head. Nothing fit, nothing made sense enough to tell him. She didn't want to hurt him, but she knew she could trust him. What more could she do?
Then it hit her, she was afraid. Not of him, but of what he might do when he found out. He could go kill her parents, or threaten them. This would only make things more difficult for Sam.
"I will tell you...but you have to promise to say nothing...and do nothing." Sam hoped he would obey because she needed to spit it out now or never tell him at all. "The deal with the devils...I took a loan from my parents...and they are making me pay them back every penny. With interest..." She sighed loudly knowing it was too late to go back now. It was do or die, now to see how Mat took it.
