Short Fuse~

[Addie Balfour]

[So, I totally promised my first post to Jay xD; I know its very poorly written. I'm sorry ^^;; ]

It was lunch a time of the day that she hated the most especially when in school, after all it requires being near people. People she didn't know and probably people she would grow to hate because of foul comments towards her. The clock in the center of the large room said that lunch had just began and she still had a lot of time to kill. Walking towards the line, at that point in time the girl had no clue as to what she wished to eat. Turning, she began to walk backwards looking at the selection as she headed to the end of the line. Of course walking backwards tends to draw a little bit of attention, so some whispering could be heard. Pausing so a moment the brunette turned and looked towards the people whispering, she wore a rather strange smile on her face as she took slow steps towards them.

" Do you have something to say to me?" The girl questioned in a sickeningly sweet voice.

The people in the line laughed, they were probably thinking that the girl was some form of idiot. After all being in such a place did not seem to fit her.

"you've got to be kidding me." a girl laughed as she took a step forward, she looked over the girl for a second. The girl in question had short brown hair with highlights, her hair was thrown into sloppy pigtails that hung loosely in the back.

She was wearing a strange black collar with a silver pendant on it, some strangely coloured accessories that included: a florescent green bracelet and a fishnet glove, a black and red lace wrist band, and a gold bracelet with something engraved in it. Though it seemed a little out of place and slightly worn out. The red shirt that the girl wore had a strange design to it, there seemed to be a back tank top underneath it. The shirt started a little under the shoulder and buttoned in the front, the sleeves were puffed and a white ribbon sat in the middle on the front. The red shirt had a few words on the back, though at the time the girl didn't notice them. On her waist sat a black and florescent green belt, under the best was a white skirt and black pants.

She couldn't help but laugh at the badly dressed girl, she pushed her bangs out of the way before asking," who do you think you are going out into public dressed like that?"

"Princess, I'm Addie Balfour and I'll dress how I wish to." The brunette laughed a little as she raised the green fishnet hand and bowed gracefully before the girl from the line.

For a second the girl from the line was quiet, she wasn't quite sure what to make of Addie Balfour. Since she seemed rather weird in her point of view. She immediately assumed that Addie was making fun of her."Princess? whats that supposed to mean?" The girl questioned in a shout. But of course it seemed that the crowds of people surrounding their tables seemed to drown her out. No one seemed to be paying attention to the line girl, which kind of made her a little more angry since she wasn't in the lime light.

"Yes, princess." Addie chuckled with a smirk on her face, she was having a ball toying with the young lady."Do you have a problem with that? Have I upset you?" Addie asked, still wearing a smirk on her face as she did so. Oh this is quite fun, though maybe I should stop. After all I don't want this to get out of hand...ahah. Well, it isn't like me to pick a fight. It really was true, Addie wasn't the type to start a fight. She would usually wait for someone else to start it, looking up Addie realized the girl from the line was still talking. "what? I'm sorry, I wasn't really listening to you." The girl asked still wearing her devilish smirk.

"you weren't listening?" The girl cried in an enraged tone, taking a few steps closer to Addie. Cracking her knuckles a little as she did so, the girl ran towards Addie throwing a punch at her as she did so.

What a wonderful way to fix a rather horrible day.. Addie laughed a little out loud, not moving at the girl's punch impacted on her cheek. Her cheek stung a little after all it seemed that the girl had quite the arm on her.

"take that! you like that?" The girl spat, it seemed as she grew angry her vocabulary slowly disappeared.

"yes actually, I hate throwing the first punch." The brunette laughed as she quickly returned the favour. Addie wasn't the fastest, though her punches usually packed quite the punch. Her first punch hit the girl in the face, catching her off guard and the second hit the girl in the stomach.

Gasping a little the girl glared, her cheek was already turning red in the area that Addie had hit. She had one hand on her cheek and the other clutching her stomach. After catching her breath the girl looked at her attacker, a glare seemed to focus itself on the brunette."you'll pay for that!" She spat," I'll get you another day." Turning away from Addie the girl ran off.

That's horrible...She wasn't that fun to play with.. Sighing a little the girl made her way back to the line, mumbling a little as she did so."How dull.."

The people in the line watched Addie as she made her way into the line, they were silent but she could feel their eyes on her.
What are you looking at?" She questioned, smirking a little as she placed a hand on her hip.

This is.. pretty damn good.

Jiao Tsang sat in the lunch room, enjoying a little dessert he had snatched away from an unlucky bystander who happened to be in line where Jiao wanted to be; the front. It was an odd colour for frozen yogurt; green, which was fitting considering the flavour of the frozen treat. It was green tea frozen yogurt. Not a flavour you come by often, if at all, and the Chinese freshman, after witnessing a student order it, decided he wanted to try it for the first time. He loved green tea, so why the hell not? After punching the student in the face, he took his cup of green tea frozen yogurt, which Jiao was now scooping up in thin slivers with his metal spoon and slipping between his lips.

Having not strayed too far from the lunch line, because he didn't want to walk much of a distance, Jiao felt the commotion before he heard it. A quaintly-clad girl had reacted to the mumbling in the lunch line, which Jiao thought was a little paranoid of her. To be honest, however, Jiao would have laughed at the girl's state of dress as well if he had noticed her before. A smirk graced the lips of the Chinese boy, but not because of the how the girl was dressed, but because of what unfolded next.

Some broad decided that she did have something to say to the girl, but the girl, who introduced herself as Addie Balfour, would have nothing of it. The short squabble escalated to yelling, and from somewhere behind him Jiao heard "Cat fight!" like a typical male. Jiao sure hoped it was a real fight, not one of those shitty hair-pulling, nail-clawing bitch fights that cat-fights are so reknown for. Sure, the prospect of clothes potentially being ripped off and and two girls wrestling was enticing, but not for the Chinese boy. Real fights were far more interesting, and these two girls would not disappoint.

It was a short exchange, with the not-so-oddly dressed girl running off. This Addie Balfour intrigued him; she was much like him in the sense that she didn't take shit from anybody. So intrigued that Jiao got out of seat, frozen yogurt in hand, and approached the girl in line. "Aww, why'd you let her get away? You should have chased her! You're no fun," Jiao whined, his voice matching the pout on his face.

"I like your attitude, Addie. Screw what other people say; the way you dress is sweet. And, from what I just witnessed, it draws attention," the Chinese freshman said as he placed another shred of the cold, frozen treat into his mouth before extending the cup and spoon toward the girl, a smirk mimicking the girl's own on his face, "Care for some green tea?"

"There is no point in finishing a fight with a weak opponent." Addie said sternly wearing a slight smirk on her face. She had only then renoticed the stinging feeling where the girl had hit her. Raising a hand to the swelling cheek the brunette lightly placed a finger on her cheek for a few seconds before letting her arm drop to her side. Wow, that stings..ahahaha Addie thought to herself as she glanced over at the freshman. The girl smiled a little she wasn't quite sure what to think about the freshman who stood before her. He seemed very odd, after all he had walked up to her and after Addie nearly knocked some girl's block off. She let her hand drop from her hip to her side before looking over at the line, the people in the line were quiet and the quickly turned and looked away from her. Oh my oh my, it seems that I have caused quite the commotion. Oh well, what can you do about it? But now, who is that young man? Addie thought to herself, her blue gaze traveled over to the Chinese freshman, she was beginning to question who he was.

"I like your attitude, Addie. Screw what other people say; the way you dress is sweet. And, from what I just witnessed, it draws attention,"

"you want to draw attention? why is that?" The brunette questioned as she kept her blue gaze focused on the Chinese student, she watched him eat his ice cream which just made her a little more hungry. It was the first time she had ever met the young man, then again she usually never played attention to people in classrooms or in the hall. He seemed slightly different compared to some of the other people she had run into in the school, though she couldn't exactly be sure of that after only just meeting him.

"Who are you?" The Japanese German girl questioned as she accepted the cup and spoon, looking down in the cup she wondered if the ice cream would taste any good. At that moment Addie really didn't care what she was going to eat since she didn't really want to stand in line anymore. Scooping a little bit of green ice cream with the spoon, she slid the spoon in to her mouth.Wow, its really good!

"Why not?"

The smirk remained on the Chinese boy's face as the girl accepted his offer of green tea frozen yogurt and asked him for his name. "You must be new here. I'm Jay Tsang," he closed eyes, nodding a bit before leaving the line and motioning for Addie to follow as he pulled a chair up to the table he had just been sitting at. "From the looks of it, you don't seem you mind drawing attention, either. Why else would you dress like that?" he sighed, and pointed at the cup in the girl's hands.

"You can keep the frozen dessert, by the way; I'm not really all that hungry, and I have to watch my figure," he quipped with a smirk, running a hand through his silky obsidian locks to emphasize the point.

"Why not?"

Addie sighed a little, she didn't really get the answer that she wanted; but what could she do? The Japanese German girl merely shrugged off his answer and once again scooped a little bit of the green tea frozen yogurt into her mouth. Regardless of the fact that a complete strange had just given her the frozen yogurt, she continued to eat it.

" Jay Tsang, eh?" Addie had to think to herself for a moment or two, even then references to the name never came to mind." I'm sorry, I've never heard of you." She added with a laugh, following Jay towards the table. Sitting down she placed the cup on the table, there was still frozen yogurt in it but she was planning on taking her time.

"I dress like this because I feel like it, if I stick out; I stick out. Its better then being mixed in with the herd." Addie couldn't help but laugh a little, she hated the thought of being mixed in with the masses."Whats the deal with you? Should I have heard of you or something? Do you like drawing attention?"

"You can keep the frozen dessert, by the way; I'm not really all that hungry, and I have to watch my figure,"

That comment alone put Addie into yet another one of her laughing fits, she couldn't help herself he was just to much for her."I can see why you need to work on it." She commented, pushing her bangs out of her face a little. She had quite a difficult time trying to stop her fit but she managed to do so, Straightening up a little Addie smirked at Jay wondering how he'd react to her previous comment. I Hope I didn't hurt his ego. No, there is no way I could have done that. He is all ego..ahahahaha

"Tch."

Jay let out a small chuckle at the girl's comment. "Like I said, you must be new, so I'll forgive you. Not only does dressing like that deviate you from the herd, it also means that you don't care what other people think. That's admirable," for the second time during this lunch period, Jay sighed. Jay, despite whatever he believed, actually cared a lot about what other people thought of him, which was why he held himself in such high regard. If you think highly of yourself, others will, too. At least, that's what he thought. "Of course I don't like drawing attention. Attention draws itself to me."

"Huh," Jay muttered, a dry smirk forming on his face, "You're no prize package, either, honey." He looked around the cafeteria for moment before turning back to the blonde-brunette girl, "I'd have to say I'm probably the sexiest person in this room, so I've no idea what you're talking about."

The Chinese freshman placed his elbows on the lunch table, propping his head up with one of his hands while the other nonchalantly drummed on the wooden tabletop. "It looks like you could have beat up any one of those punks in the lunch line, especially considering the way they acted when you called them out. Why didn't you just butt into the front of the line? It'd be the same scenario. You'd still have to kick someone's ass, but you'd benefit from it more. Not only would you have drawn the attention of me, Jay Tsang, but you would have been able to get what you wanted from the cafeteria, as well as earned a little respect from your fellow prisoners."

" I'm not new, I just don't pay attention or listen to people. Gossip or the latest happenings don't have any importance to me." Addie said with a smirk,"Confidence in who you are is an important aspect of life, if you aren't confident you'll get walked on." The blonde-brunette added in a stern tone, it was one thing she believed in. After all, she knew it from experience, you always have to be confident. She had noticed the sighing coming from the apparently very cocky Jay, though she didn't know him well it seemed out of character; or at least the public character that he showed. Of course Addie wasn't going to address it yet, she'd wait until he did it again before pointing anything out.

" I'm not a prize package?" She questioned sarcastically as she closed her eyes and ran both hands through her hair, pulling the elastics that barely held them in place out. Allowing her hair to fall over her shoulders as she winked at him playfully. Addie was just playing around, she liked to have a little fun too. She looked around at the people in the cafeteria and nodded,"Maybe the sexiest guy." She added with yet another laughing fit.

"It looks like you could have beat up any one of those punks in the lunch line, especially considering the way they acted when you called them out. Stopping her laughter for a moment, she rested her head on the table edge. Addie didn't really have to think of an answer for Jay, she just wanted some silence for a moment. She listened to the sounds of the cafeteria's kitchen, and the voice of people chattering. Her blue gaze was focused on the ground as her head rested on the table edge, her hair dangled at the sides of her face, covering it from the sight of the surrounding people.

"Well, had I beaten them up or butt in line. They could have gotten angry and all attacked me at once, that wouldn't be a good thing for the Great Jay Tsang to see, now would it? Addie questioned sarcastically with a chuckle following soon after.

Oh my, I am a little weird. I wonder if it'll scare him off.ahahaaha
