"Any ideas Solaris?"
"Always."
Solaris and Doc appeared in the core at nearly the same time, a result of the TARDIS' ability to manipulate time and space. It was a good thing too, the boy had about four hours before the toxin would kill him even on bypass. No. They didn't have much time. Solaris started his walk out of the core, using the main doors, hoping the Doc would follow him. Down the security corridor he went, and taking a left, entered a maintenence corridor, coming to another security hallway, which the guards promptly opened up to the two.
"Doc." The door opened, and Solaris walked in. "This is Reactor #3, a deviant from the normal power systems. This is an arcreactor. One of my own design for once. It's powered by a large ring of palidium, quite a reactant if I might add...and less dangerous, it won't explode if I go missing somehow." Solaris walked around to the control console and typed in the passcode for the master reactor controls.
"This place is one massive pacemaker for me. So why not one for Matrim? I've always wanted to put an arcreactor core in someone."
Solaris laughed a little at his next thought. "Of course, the core is rather unstable without a controller." He turned to the Doc. "Should we go this method...the boy will need a controller. He pointed at the back of his neck. He'll need an AI chip implanted in his spine and the base of his neck."
He thought of everyone who had one. Solaris WAS an AI, Aternity had one, Lunari had one...even Sophia...wait, did she? He'd never noticed. Oh well.

"Brilliant!" The Doctor said scanning the thing with his sonic screwdriver. "How much power do you reckon this boy needs though? This is a great source of power, but considering all we're doing is making a heart..... well, I guess it's the only idea short notice. I guess he'll have a strong heart way into his thousands....... if only we could say the same for every other part of his body."
The Doctor then thought about the scraps he had left back in the core room, "You get me the pallidium and I'll go to work on making a base for it in his chest. It'll be tricky getting it in there, but I should be able to manage something. Also, about the chip, that's fine, but try to make sure nothing can hack him, nothing, I won't have this boy being mind controlled by somebody with the smarts of technology."
The Doctor knew it was possible to make him hack proof, he could help, but he'd rather not have to take the screwdriver to something like that. He ran back and went to work, he'd be done relatively soon, and as soon as he got the pallidium he'd be seconds away from being finished. Of course, if Solaris helped he'd even manage to make the thing rather decent looking.

"The Arc Reactor is more stable than trying to miniaturize a fusion core. As you know, if I were to leave the core, the reactors, barring number three, would start to critically overload, and undergo a catastrophic meltdown. Not pretty, but you already know the numbers. As for other body parts, we can worry about that later."
Solaris watched the Doc as he left for the TARDIS, and giving one last look at the reactor, walked out of the room and to the supply closet. Pallidium was extremely difficult to come by. It was rather rare, and very expensive. However, it was a necessary conductor if the reactor was to work right. "Let's see." Solaris started sifting through unsorted materials...it would be a minute before he could find them. "This place needs RuBee tags...seriously."
Another minute passed. Still nothing. "Damn it where are...? There you are." Solaris picked out a small vial. Two grams of pure pallidium for use in the large arc reactor. Normally, several of these vials would be required. However, the smaller reactor should only require one, maybe half vial. Taking the vial out, he walked a little bit to the shop room, opened the vial, and poured its liquid contents into a smelter, quickly mixing it into a useful form. Taking the smelted ring, he left the shop.
"Doc, I have a present for you." A formed pallidium ring, a perfect fit for a mini-arcreactor. Solaris walked into the TARDIS, and handed the conductor to Doc, hoping he'd be finished soon.

The Doctor managed to create a placement that would fit into his chest, it had all the right connections to Become a machine heart. It was tricky, but it would work. It took him awhile to make sure it wouldn't stick straight out of his chest very far though.
"Doc, I have a present for you."
"Gimme!" Doc reached out and grabbed the pallidium as if it were a gift to unwrap Christmas day, "Alrighty, here we go!"
The Doctor went to work, creating everything he needed he knew he had to do something to initiate the start, He created the reactor, he created the placement for Matrim's chest, as well as the machine connectings to work as a heart, he looked at the two, sitting criss cross on the floor, and then reached back and grabbed the power connection to the TARDIS, he attached it for just a second.
"Annnnnnnd GO!" He said, the reactor was now active, he set it in the place holder just so he wouldn't have to carry the two separately, "Get that chip you were talking about, then we'll head to the infirmary. I'll finish the cosmetic touches in the TARDIS.

The Doc quickly swiped the pallidium ring from Solaris' hand, placing it in the other piece of the new core. Solaris knelt down next to the Doc and inspected the new arc reactor. It was quite a wonder. The Doc didn't even a schematic of the original reactor. While Solaris had good reason to question how he did it, The Doctor WAS over nine-hundred years old, and a time traveler...he'd likely picked up this technology somewhere in his life.
"Annnnnnnd GO!"
The miniaturized reactor, hardwired into the TARDIS, glowed to life, a bright blue, then partially subsided, emitting a light hum, hardly audible. "Well, the boy is going to be one hell of a powerhouse, that's for sure." Solaris went and picked up the parts for the supplemental AI core, talking to the Doctor to settle his fears of hacking. "The supplemental core is linked directly to Chronos. Anything that tries to get in, goes through me first. No worries. As for my link to him and the other Awrens, that has to remain open to keep the core stable. Sorry."
Solaris finished retrieving the parts, and sent a tube with them to the infirmary. "I have to solder them in on the spot. Start preparing Matrim for surgery, I have a feeling it might be a long one." Solaris phased out, leaving Doc in the room alone.

"Well then, we best be off!" The Doctor said gathering his things. He based all of his designs off of a comic book theory, but he wasn't about to tell Solaris that considering it worked. If it had failed? He would have taken the boy into the future to get it cured somehow. Then he would have brought him back. But he didn't want to risk the time line.
"Go ahead and phase over to the Infirmary now and let everyone know to get him ready for surgery. We'll give this boy a heart, and hope he doesn't die. If he doesn't die, we can officially be the first ones to perform this surgery in the history of earth."
The Doctor then turned and said, "Which also means we can never take credit for our work..... time line and all..... give it another 125 years...."
The Doctor ran to the TARDIS with all his work shutting the door behind him, bringing in the power extension and wrapping it up. He set the coordinates for the infirmary and went back.
OOC: Go ahead and post in the other thread now, I was the last to do it, and I dont feel like double posting.
