Tap. Tap. Tap.
She hummed softly as one foot led the other- as th white cane swept from side to side lightly tapping edges of the new surroundings. She was soon to discover this land and be able to move about it without the cane. But for now, she would accept her handicap and simply smile subtly as always.
Mismatched fabrics moved with what little wind there was...carrying with it the smell of trees, water, sweat, even a hint of flowers from time to time. She didn't mind it...even the sweat....as she knew it meant other people. She liked people....eight times out of ten. Those other two were the kind who wouldn't accept a small difference such as hers..or others. She didn't enjoy closed minded people all that much. Though she had to admit...every once in a while, she was a bit close minded. Human Nature- one could only assume.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
She reached out, having found a doorway touching along the frame- looking for something as simple as a plaque with braille on it. She needed to locate the head office of the resident physician or to have met the administrator....someone was supposed to have met her and given her a bit of a chat about where she would be staying as..she had special needs- thus her room would be different, with all those great things blind people need.
Tap. Tap.
No braille, she sighed and reached for the door...found a flat surface...that was squishy- luckily at this level it would be a human chest. "Ah- excuse me? Could you tell me what the plaque says?"

Matrim had been walking acrossed the grounds trying to spot someone to fight, after all he needed to stay in shape. Of course, these plans went straight down the drain when everyone around seemed to be in a good mood. It was a warm day, the sun was out, and Matrim was a little blinded by it at first having been cooped up in his room all day studying.
"Well, nothing like a nice day like this..." He said, stepping out of the front doors, or at least tried to when somebody reached out and put their hands on his chest. Matrim looked up, letting his eyes focus to see a girl...
Yes! A girl is touching my chest!
With a Cane....
OK... a female pimp is touching my chest!
"Ah- excuse me? Could you tell me what the plaque says?"
OK.... a blind chick is touching my chest!
Matrim took her hand with his, taking it off of his chest slowly, "It appears to say, 'Boys Dormitories'," Matrim released her hand, taking a good look at the girl.
She's exceptionally pretty... couldn't tell you what her eyes are like, but gorgeous... forget it, you dont stand a chance with her either...
Matrim hung his head in defeat, not caring the girl was there. She couldn't see him do it so he could still come off as confident. Not that he wasn't confident, just that when it came to the opposite sex he always has had his doubts.
"I'm Matrim, I'm a student. Need me to give you a tour? Or is there any place in particular you need to go to?" Matrim searched his memory for a name but realized he didn't know the girl yet, "And what is your name?"
Come onnnnnn..... your looks may be good but that won't matter to her... all that will matter is personality!
...
.. . I'm screwed....

Papers. Papers, and more...papers. The life of an AI, what a pain. At least he could digitize the stuid things. For him, school paperwork was the equivilent to student homework. Boring, and for the most part, completely and utterly useless. Oh well, had to be done anyway. There was no grading to it, apart from, without it, he'd likely be yelled at; something he'd rather prefer to avoid.
He didn't bother to phase shift, no, a walk would be nice from the lobby, the commons. "Thanks for the paperwork..." he muttered to himself walking out of the copy room. The hallways were rather quiet right now, which was a nice change of pace than having to deal with little kiddies breaking security protocol every 5 minutes or so. He closed his eye while walking, just knowing from his topography maps where he was going...the silence was rather...
Tap. Tap. Tap.
"What the hell?"
Tap. Tap.
He opened his eyes in a start from the sudden clicking or tapping. And farther down the hall, a girl was poking around with a...cane? Why would she...
"Oh of course." Solaris knew who this girl was instantly. Dillion Kai, another new student, albeit, different. She was like Solaris, disabled in a way...blind to be matter of fact.
"Ah- excuse me? Could you tell me what the plaque says?"
Solaris stopped next to her. "This is the boys dormitories... Can I help you with something?" He found Matrim, the little one next to her. "And don't you have class Mr. Gallagher?" (sp?)

The chest she found had been that of a welcoming being. Told her what she needed to know...suddenly smelled very nervous..panicked almost. She offered a smile...or the resemblance of one having never seen one- the gesture for her was pure and full in every motion.
She didn't touch faces unless she knew them well enough to ask. But she pulled her hand away from his chest, you could hear the nervous on his voice- odd. Maybe it was the possible thought of intrusion on the boys dormitories? She had no idea.
He asked her name...and if she needed a tour. She tilted her head slightly to the side, giving a slight wrinkle to her nose...eyes still well hidden..why show them when they were unusable?
"Dillon Kai..I'm looking for..."
Footsteps. A second voice. A little older. She would turn her head slightly towards the other, turn slightly...this was perhaps the administrator..or official she was waiting for?
"I was supposed to be met at the gate by an administrator of some sort...a special request was put in for it."
She was obviously blind. But the lack of request honoring was...disconcerning almost...her bags had been taken somewhere and she really wanted to change after a nice shower but she couldn't even do that- nor would she sit down, despite her tiredness...traveling on the bus had been a bit of a drain with so many sounds and smells...she just wanted a small break.
"In all honesty I don't mind who shows me. As long as someone does."
Her cane tapped next to her foot as if in punctuation of her statement.

"I don't take sex ed, Solaris. Thought you would know that, being the school itself and all. Yeah, I'll take you to the front tower, there is a lobby on the ground floor. The Doctor or perhaps Nurse Emma will know where your dorm room is. I'm assuming you've got your MAC, right? It's the cell phone like device we all get."
Matrim walked in front of her turning around and saying, "Follow me, I'll take you there. And uhh.. If you want I can keep talking... or if you want I can take your and and lead you... might be easier that way...."
So either your gonna come off sounding condescending, or like a jerk trying to hold her hand. Bravo. You're chances of even getting even the slightest hint of a friendship with this girl is out the window.
Matrim stood there, his hand held out although she couldn't see it, it was his body's natural actions. He made gestures no matter what. A habit which he got from his father.
