As the Orientation ended, Emma had asked Micha to take care of Elayne for a while as she set things into motion with Mat, if not in so many words.
Smiling cheerily, the redhead nodded, pulling a grey cloak up over herself, covering up. Turning back to Elayne, she grinned. "Looks like you get to come to my room for a while" she laughed as Elayne began walking with her. "I'll race you... ready... set.... GO!" she shouted, running at a slow, casual pace, laughing as her hair flew behind her, the girl gaining a little ground on her.
A short time later, they arrived at the staff suites, both tired from the run, smiling happily. Emma and Elayne were two of the few people Michaella had learned to care about, it really was a special friendship she shared with them. Truth be told, in her mind, they were family. Much the same as the adopted family she had grown up with, people bonded together in a group.
Slipping into the room, she closed the door, locking it and pointed to the TV. "Watch whatever you like, I'll be back in a few minutes." That said, she headed into her bedroom, changing into a modest set of purple pajamas. Returning, she smiled. "Well, what would you like to do?" She asked, a habbit she'd had. She always asked what the kid wanted to do, but of coarse sometimes she'd make suggestions afterwards, keep things mixed up.
OOC: thought it might be good to fill this in, just a little rp between me and Elayne (and Emma when she gets there to pick her up) just a little something to help fill out the storyline.
And one note, despite the image she presents, Micha really isn't perverted or a slut, she just likes using stereo-types to her advantage, there won't be any porn on the TV, but lots of cartoon channels, basic cable/satelite, and a bunch of pg 13 at most movies (most of which are pg)

Elayne felt several things as the orientation ended: confusion, mediocrity, her mother's anger and sadness, the weight of the five-year-old's little word, and more confusion. Micha had done very little to held matters any. Her mother wasn't crazy or prone to shows of anger. On the contrary, Mommy was always calm, reserved and perfectly sane for a mommy when she thought anyone was watching. She never saw that Elayne was always looking.
After orientation, Micha grabbed her and they raced back to the school. She was running at an easy pace to comply with the length of Elayne's legs, Elayne could tell. She hated the concept of going slower for the sake of her being small. Unfair much.
Anyways, they arrived at the Staffer suites and Elayne plopped herself down on the couch and began searching for the Japanese version of C-Span. She quite enjoyed the channel and would consistently watch it for its lack of progress in the U.S. Government. For Elayne, it was comedy.
Unfortunately, she had yet another fruitless search and Micha had come out and asked her what she wanted to do. Watch C-span was the first thing that came to mind. Then, there was something else.
"Chess?" She asked, fidgeting a little in her dress. "That's always fun."

Micha couldn't help but laugh at the suggestion of chess. "Why, so you can beat me again?" She'd been playing chess, go, and all sorts of strategic, intellectual games with the little one for the past two years, ever since she'd first been able to learn them. Recently, the girl had been getting quite good, and Micha had yet to bring her game up another notch. It was just too much fun playing the way she had, however, and Elayne had stomped her the last three times in a row. Perhaps now it was time to get serious.
Crouching down at the games cabinet, she popped it open, pulling out the oft-used, well cared for ceramic chess set Emma had given her for christmas the year before. The old one her and Elayne had used at home was all worn out, and Emma seemed to think that the new ones made the game seem... 'More Real' though figures that looked more like art than chess pieces just seemed odd to Micha.
Laying it out on the table, she took the white and black kings in her hands, hiding them behind her back. "You know the drill Elayne. Choose an arm to choose who goes first. Choose the white piece, you get white, choose the black and you get black. Well, what'll it be?" She inquired, flashing the pieces back and forth between her hands with subtle movements of her wrists that couldn't be seen from in front. Even she didn't know which was which at this point, but she liked it better that way, made things more interesting.
OOC: I'll let you decide which one it is.

"Yay!" Elayne hopped up off the couch and watched as Aunt Micha pulled out the ceramic chess set her Mother had made and grab the kings to decide who got which color.
"Hmm..." Elayne watched her 'Aunt' Micha for any faults in body language or anything to try to decide which side was which. To Elayne, it really didn't matter what color she got, she had a strategy she'd been working on for both.
"Right hand." She finally decided.
Aunt Micha pulled out the hand and showed her the king. It was black. Elayne smiled, grabbed it and went to one side of the table and began setting up. Pawns went up first, then all the royal pieces, outside to in. She smiled at Aunt Micha when she was done, one of the fastest times she'd set up.
"So, we gonna play or are you gonna tell me why Mommy sent me home with you, Aunt Micha? Or both? Either way, you probably should take a seat so I can beat you again."
Elayne was joking about the last bit, but, when it came to strategy games, she was highly competitive. She didn't like losing, but she'd just pout for a while if she did. But, not for long. Only until she won again.

Micha pulled out her hand, as uncertain as Elayne as to which it was. When the girl chose the black king, she smiled and released it, kneeling on the bench and beggining to set up. Deft hands and expert coordination gave Michaella more than sufficient skill to keep pace with the girl, matching her piece for piece until they had completely finished placing their pieces. "Take a seat so you can beat me again!?" She intoned, playfully fawning fury. "OH IT IS ON ELAYNE! IT IS ON!!!" she growled, already starting to giggle as she took her seat opposite the girl. " As she took her seat, she lifted the right knight, holding it in her fist throughtfully. "I can't completely say Elayne. I know you saw that man she hit earlier. I would suppose he's someone she's known a while and wants some time to catch up. Besides..." she intoned, laying it down. "I haven't been able to spend any time playing with you for the last week or so while all the preparations were being made for starting the school year, I wanted the chance to hang out with you." OOC: Moved White Knight from F1 to E3 (yes I actually have a paper chess board I've got filled in with our pieces in pencil and am going to be changing them as we take our turns lol. Gives us something to do along with the dialogue. If you don't know the chess notations, here's a link chess.eusa.ed.ac.uk/Chess/Rules/notation.html that explains everything. Clearly we're using the coordinate system) Also, gave Elayne a basic answer to her question and told her I wanted to play with her anyway.

She listed to Micha, nodding her head slightly, but not giving any answer. She was completely into the game now. Her mother, and matters concerning her could wait.
Pawn, A7 to A5. Simple, yes, but fundamentals are the building blocks of fun.
(So sorry this sucks so bad. Brain died.)

Micha couldn't help but smile as she watched the girl choose and make her move without a sound. She was every bit as competitive as her guardians were. In a playfull stroke, Michaella moved her Pawn from A2 to A4, mirroring the younger player's move and halting her Pawn's advance.
Smirking playfully, she sat and waited, wondering what the little girl's plan really was. There was no doubt the pawn had been a feint, but her real intent remained unseen. The Elayne was far better than any looking at her would assume, and this time, Micha would hold nothing back.
OOC: moved my pawn from A2 to A4, blockading yours. And its alright, I can only encourage dialogue, I can't force it lol.

Mirror image, huh? Well, it'd take a bit more than that to stop me. Pawn from B7 to B6.
I felt like I was in a battle, moving platoons and warriors around to fight the enemy while watching from the safety of my own castle. I smiled a little wider, deciding which method to use.
I blew my bangs up, thinking about what Aunt Micha had said earlier. It wasn't that the game didn't matter anymore, it was just that I actually started to think on my mother. Someone she's known for a while and wants to catch up with? I should know who that was, but I didn't...or at least I think I didn't...
My mother told me a lot, but I also learned a lot from never letting her out of my sight except when it was forced on me by her having to work or go do something important. I don't think she knew how much I looked after her. She really worried me sometimes.
"Aunt Micha, was that someone you two knew from school? Mommy muttered something about her school in America this morning when she was reading a letter." I said, completely covering up for eavesdropping on her during on of her rants with herself.
The letter was a list of the school faculty and I saw someone on there with the same last name as me, but it wasn't my mother. Just what had happened there? Aunt Micha probably wouldn't tell me, but I didn't really care. I'd just have to resort to...other means of getting the information.
((Yes, I know it's in first person. I'm tired and I wanted to do it from Elayne's perspective. It just works, okay?))
