Math, in particular, geometry. The word was enough to make students cringe and flee in terror. But those that took the course would find it to help later in life Lunari thought. But that was beside the point. Right now, she was stuck in a class grading papers. Another teacher had walked out on the job as usual, and the same amount of work still had to be done...
No one was around, no one was expected to be around. She sat in the cushioned chair, propped up with a few books, and with her beret on the desk next to her while her pen made various marks and comments. The grades were mostly Cs and Ds, with the occasional F or A strewn about the pile. Her eyes lay a bright green, her glasses keeping up with the regional news. It was a pretty damned quiet day for the most part, nothing she really had to take care of, except this of course.
15 minutes more, and she'd be done, and off to bed most likely. It was rather late at night, and expecting no one out of their dorms beside other teachers, the lights had been turned off for the night. A quarter moon shown through the couple windows she had. Sighing, she went right back to her work...

Riley drifted in and out of classrooms, walking through the walls, all the classrooms he had been through were empty, naturally, considering the time it was right now. He was bored, he didn't have much to do, why would he, he was a ghost, was a ghost suppose to do, he didn't have classes, since he wasn't even on the class list, and even if he was, no one could see him, especially the teachers. He drifted along the school grounds and entered into the Math building, and entered into the classroom, thinking it was empty as usual. Boy was he wrong.
Upon entering, no MAC required, he found a teacher at her desk, the moonlight shining through the few windows that were located in the classroom. He drifted over and took a look at what she was doing. Grading paper,s not just any papers, geometry papers. Oh yeah, nothing like grading geometry at night huh? Riley continued to hover, glancing over at the teacher, he wondered, could she see him? So far, he found no one that could see him, which although sounded alright, it also bummed Riley out a bit.
It sucks when you have no one to talk to, and Riley had no one to talk to, but hey, in a school like this, or prison as Riley like to call it, there was bound to be some people who could see him, right? Yeah, just thinking that, cheered him up a bit. Looking at the teacher, who was busy grading, he normally would pull a prank, but right now, she looked like she wasn't in the mood for games.
Riley drifted down in front of the desk, hovering a few centimeters off the ground, and decided to at least try talking, it was better than staying here in silence. " Hey, if you can hear me, give me a sign, a gesture, anything! Hello? Can you hear me now?"

A, C. D, A, B. All these grades had become so annoying. Most of the sound from the writing had become dulled to her mind, and the room was plunged into deep silence, there was nothing but the scribbling of papers and the slight hum of the heater, which soon clicked off. She hadn't had anything decent to eat today, which also bugged her to some slight extent.
Nor had she had much social contact today, Solaris had been taken offline for some maintenance, and after restarting, had been rather grumpy that he had so much work to do. Such in the life of a synthetic huh? Meanwhile, while she had her thoughts, the room seemed to cool, and not just because the heater was off. No, it was a forced coldness. Finally, she looked from her papers and took off her glasses, her eyes turning orange, looking for signs of life that might be changing something. Peering around the room, she saw nothing. As she thought, no one was in the room, and she turned back to her papers.
That was until...
"Hello? Can you hear me now?"
"What in Luna?" Lunari spun around and saw nothing once more. She turned, set her pen down and turned to her beginners Qi once more. This time there was something different. A floating ball of Qi right in front of her desk. Qi normally didn't bunch itself up like that in nature. There were two choices now, one was that of a spirit in the room, or someone had a Qi that made them invisible. Without a MAC, the latter had no chance, and no one had unlocked the door.
It was a spirit of sorts that she couldn't see quite yet.
"Jeez, you gave me quite the scare there...I normally don't see earth-bound spirits..."

"What in Luna?" That reaction surprised Riley, making him step back a bit, as she placed her pen down and started looking around, he could see her orange eyes, which locked onto where he was currently hovering. "Jeez, you gave me quite the scare there...I normally don't see earth-bound spirits..." The same could be said for Riley, as he dirfted down into the desk in front of the teacher and sat in it. " I could say the same thing, I've never met anyone who could see me or hear me. So you can hear me, that makes me happy." Riley answered, his hands folded on top of the desk.
He had to be careful, if he didn't pay attention, he'd probably end up going through the desk, " As for the earth-bound part, yeah, I'm still here, even though I'm dead. I don't know how that happened, but I'm guessing I'm suppose to find something out?" he pondered, before realizing he didn't give his name when he was blabbing. " Oh, right, I'm Riley, and you are?" he asked, leaning back in the seat, or at least giving the illusion he was.
He didn't know who this teacher was, or how it was possible that she could hear him, but one thing he was sure, he was no longer invisible to everyone he passed by.

The little sphere of Qi next to the desk shifted a little, and moved back in response to Lunari's exclamation. She herself fell back into her seat and sighed, still staring at the ball. Her eyes were trying to adjust to see his physical form, and it was still working. She could see an outline, but nothing detailed yet as the ghost supposedly sat in a chair. She listened in as she graded a few more papers.
"I could say the same thing, I've never met anyone who could see me or hear me. So you can hear me, that makes me happy." Lunari smiled as his form started to take some shape. "Well, I'm certainly honored to be the first, but I'm sure there are other students that can see you as well. Riera comes to mind." She mentioned, not knowing they'd already met. "As for the earth-bound part, yeah, I'm still here, even though I'm dead. I don't know how that happened, but I'm guessing I'm suppose to find something out?" Now this was an interesting statement, obviously he'd been reading books or something. "Well, I'm not sure about that, but a theory as why you're here is for your own consideration."
"Oh, right, I'm Riley, and you are?"
Finally she looked up, able to see most of him, blonde hair, and an eye color rather close to her own. "Lunari Sayre Awren, a teacher here provided you didn't know already."

Reira stiffled a small yawn. She had just finished dressing into plaid pajama pants and a white sleeping tank top. Yep it was time for bed. All her homework was finished so there was nothing to worry about until tomorrow, where she would have to go through another day of classes. For now, it was time for some rest and relaxation.
Her head was just about to hit the pillow when a sudden realization struck her. She still had math homework to do! This time, instead of a yawn, she had to stifle a scream of annoyance. Turning on the lights again, she trudged to her math binder and looked at the contents of her homework.
I dont know how to do this! When did we learn this anyway?...Hehehe...right...the day I fell asleep in class. Damn if I don't do this, then I'm pretty sure my mark will drop down to a D. Karma sucks!...Math sucks.
Groaning, she put on a pair of flip flops and dragged herself and her binder to the math department. She didn't know the odds of a teacher being up at this point in time, but hey, at least a good ol nightime walk would help her calm down a bit.
When she finnaly made it to her math classroom door, she was very surprised to see lights seeping through the cracks of the door. She then politely knocked on the door. "Um..hello. I was wondering if I could get some help with my math homework. I know late and all, but at least I'm doing my homework right?" Reaching for her MAC, the door opened and she peeked her head in, waiting to see if she was welcome or not.

Riley saw the teacher fall back in her seat and stare at him, almost like she was trying to make him out. After a few minutes that involved her grading some papers, she finally spoke. "Well, I'm certainly honored to be the first, but I'm sure there are other students that can see you as well. Reira comes to mind."
Reira...oh! That girl. " Reira, yeah, she could see me too." he agreed, folding his arms and shaking his head, " Yeah...so that's two people." As he continued shaking his head, she responded to his theory on why he was still here and not passed on. "Well, I'm not sure about that, but a theory as why you're here is for your own consideration."
" I guess." he said, as she looked up and gave her name. "Lunari Sayre Awren, a teacher here provided you didn't know already." " Lunari, please to meet you." he replied, floating over to her, passing right through the desk. As he was about to speak, the door opened, and a voice drifted in. "Um..hello. I was wondering if I could get some help with my math homework. I know late and all, but at least I'm doing my homework right?" The person then poked their head in, as Riley turned his head to see who it was, and saw a flash of...pink. " Reira?" he said puzzled, " What're you doing here?"

"Reira, yeah, she could see me too. Yeah...so that's two people." Lunari smiled, and kept right on writing. "See? People at this school have some pretty amazing talents. There are more like us, just don't go wandering in the wrong spots to find them." Lunari heard a knock on the door, and peered up from her grading once again, a lone person stand on the other side. Who the hell could it be at this hour?
A students voice broke the silence after: "Um..hello. I was wondering if I could get some help with my math homework. I know late and all, but at least I'm doing my homework right?"
*Sigh* At least the girl was in fact doing her work. She saw a puff of pink hair, and that was enough. "I suppose theres no harm done, if Solaris asks, I'll tell him, come on in." She set down her pen and stopped talking to Riley. Lunari knew about Riera, but hadn't actually met her yet. "What can I help you with?"

"I suppose theres no harm done, if Solaris asks, I'll tell him, come on in." "Thanks a bunch Miss Awren," she said closing the door behind her. She knew about Lunari Awren, but this was her first time meeting her in person. If she could remember correctly, Lunari was a friend of her mothers. It wasn't two seconds after her reply to Miss Awren when she heard another voice.
"Reira?" Riley said puzzled. "What're you doing here?"
Reira froze in her tracks like a deer in headlights. What on earth was Riley doing here? Was he observing Miss Awren? She couldn't see him could see? These were some questions running in her mind as she shook off her surprise of seeing him and walking towards Miss Awren's desk.
She concluded for now that Miss Awren couldn't see Riley, so for the teachers sake, she totally ignored Riley to the best of her ability and acted like nothing happened. He would understand, at least she hoped so.
"I don't understand how to do this? Math's not my strongest subject, so a lot of the times the concepts go through one ear and out the other," she said showing Miss Awren her notebook and the homework that needed to be done. Naturally she had left out the part of her dozing off in class when this subject was being taught. Lesson learnt.
She could see Riley almost too well in her peripheral vision.

"See? People at this school have some pretty amazing talents. There are more like us, just don't go wandering in the wrong spots to find them." " Yeah, I see, and I won't." Riley said, nodding his head. As Reira poked her head in, Lunari gave the okay for her to come in, sighing beforehand. "I suppose theres no harm done, if Solaris asks, I'll tell him, come on in. What can I help you with?"
Riley saw, much to his amusement, Reira froze on the spot when she heard his voice. After she had shoke off her surpise, he moved over a bit so that he was no longer right in front of the desk. She didn't answer him, but he knew she heard him, she just did that since she didn't want to look like a lunatic.
"I don't understand how to do this? Math's not my strongest subject, so a lot of the times the concepts go through one ear and out the other." Riley moved over and peered at her notebook over her shoulder, math. He had a feeling that Reira thought Lunari couldn't see him, so he spoke to ease her feelings.
" Reira, it's alright, Lunari can see me, so you can talk to me without looking like you've gone crazy." he said, smiling slightly. " So you can talk to me, of course, I think you'd rather find out how to do your math homework, so I won't talk." he added, drifting back into the desk and sitting down, waiting for them to finish.

"Reira, it's alright, Lunari can see me, so you can talk to me without looking like you've gone crazy." The girl had frozen slightly as she walked toward Lunari, apparently, Riley was probably not supposed to be here, or some other equivalent. But on the other hand, this was the Reira she'd heard about, the ghost talker of sorts, which was a rather interesting ability to say the least.
"Yes, it's true, I can see him, kind of, not all of him yet, but I'm getting there." She smiled as the girl approached her desk with a couple papers. "I don't understand how to do this? Math's not my strongest subject, so a lot of the times the concepts go through one ear and out the other." Lunari tilted her head and looked at the papers, there was a squiggly line running down the page. She couldn't help but chuckle at the telltale sign. "You were sleeping in class weren't you?" Heh, oh well, she did it too one time, not really a big deal.
Writing some notes in her homework, Lunari closed it for her. Hopefully, she'd use the instructions in there to actually get it done. "Now then, anyone for some tea and sushi?" Lunari asked, jumping off her chair, and walking to the small fridge in the back of the room.

"Whoa, really?" Reira said out loud when Riley had told her it was alright and that Miss Awren was able to see him. It was a little odd finding another person that could also see spirits, it made her feel less alone in the world. She had heard a great many things about Lunari, but she didn't know she was so atuned to the dead.
"Yes, it's true, I can see him, kind of, not all of him yet, but I'm getting there." Reira nodded in a response to Lunari then stuck her tounge out at Riley. "Sorry for ignoring you!" After her teasing was done, she paid close attention to the notes that Miss Awren was jotting down for her. They looked simple enough..but simple to Reira could mean complex.
If only Simon were here to help me out with my school work. I didn't realize how dependant on him I was! It's hard on my own.."You were sleeping in class weren't you?" Came Miss Awren's voice, snapping her out of her reverie. Reira's lip twitched. How could she possibly know that she had been sleeping in class. "Me! Sleep in class...never!..ehehe well..but its math..its so hard not to sleep in class." At least Lunari was laughing about it, signalling to Reira that she wasn't going to get in trouble for it.
After Lunari finished with the notes, she closes Reira's book and handed it to her. "Thanks!" she muttered all smiles. She thought that was going to be the end of her night, until Lunari invited them to tea and...sushi? Reira didn't mind tea, but sushi was another story. She had never tried sushi before. Interesting.
Agreeing to her offer, Reira sat down beside Riley. "I'll eat your share for you," she said with a wink and patted her stomach. She hadn't eaten all day and she really enjoyed Riley's company, she wouldn't allow him to leave just because he wasn't capable of eating.

"Whoa, really?" He heard her exclaim, after he told it it was okay for her to talk,"Yes, it's true, I can see him, kind of, not all of him yet, but I'm getting there." Riley nodded his head, agreeing with Lunari, as Reira turned to him and stuck her tongue out at him. "Sorry for ignoring you!" " No worries." he replied, as he then hovered above Reira's shoulder and took a peak at Reira's notebook, breaking out in laughter upon looking at it. There was squiggly line right down the page where notes should be. Squiggly line = Falling asleep in class.
Lunari knew this too obviously, since she chuckled after seeing it. "You were sleeping in class weren't you?" Riley was laughing as he hovered above both of them, as Reira tried to deny it. "Me! Sleep in class...never!..ehehe well..but its math..its so hard not to sleep in class." " You're terrible Reira, falling asleep in class, real nice." Riley said, laughing.
He stopped laughing, and saw Lunari write some notes in the notebook and closed it. Guess she gave Reira some tips on how to tackle the homework? He saw her get up, and walk over to a small fridge located in the back. Dang, this school had everything. "Now then, anyone for some tea and sushi?" Riley drifted back to the desk, and sat in it.
" Nah, I'm good, if I eat anything at night, I'll probably end up getting indigestion." Of course, he was kidding about the eating part, anything he tried to eat or drink would just fall right through him, so he stayed where he was, Reira taking a seat next to him. "I'll eat your share for you," he heard her say to him, as she winked at him while patting her stomach. " Go ahead, be my guest." he added, grinning.
