OK so you want the short version or the long version? Are you sure? Alright, have it your way.
Canadian, born and raised. If you say eh, I will be forced to cause you bodily harm, got me? Anyway, apparently the whole twin thing is basically this reoccurring thing in my family. Guess you can call it a curse, a balance of nature, or whatever you want. Any way you want to roll the dice, cast the bones, draw the cards, Awren means twin. That's just how it is. Anyway, So I got this twin sister right? Everybody seems to think she's mysterious. Personally I understand her, maybe it's a twin thing, maybe it's because I don't quite understand myself. The point is I just don't think it matters. If you don't get a person, you don't get them. Me and Thalia? We get each other.
Sure, she's a little more bubbly then me, at least around me, but that's just how it goes. Personally I wasn't too psyched about the whole family martial arts thing and I wasn't paying very much attention when my pops tried teaching me some of it. Well, eventually my mom and dad had their last fight and they really just felt like taking some time off from each other for the duration of their stay here on planet earth. I had nothing against them separating, but then they brought me and Thalia into it. That got me a little pissed off to say the least. I still remember her being dragged off by mom calling out my name. I remember because it is the first time I ever cussed at my father, and strangely enough it also happened to be the first time I had ever had my ass whooped like a red headed step child. I now wonder if those two events were at all connected. Oh well, what's in the past is in the past.
So there I was, still at home with dad, good all Canada, right? Wrong. Then he decides he wants this fancy job and he wants to move from Canada. He didn't even leave a forwarding address for his ex wife, and his own daughter, my sister! Well, a few cuss words and an ass whooping later the plane landed in California. Then he took another job, and we ended up in Japan. Then another job, and another. And time after time I had to make new friends until finally I became a very independent person. Do you know what that is like? To be a twin and be independent? You lose a little of yourself when that happens. Honest to god if I didn't carry a picture of us as kids in my wallet I would have forgotten about my female counterpart. Good ol' Thalia.
Well you might wonder what a loner complex has anything to do with my being in this place, well you'd be right to question me, but you asked for the long version, and now your getting it whether you like it or not, SO SHUT UP AND LISTEN CLOSELY!
Kids like to fight, kids like to pick on loners, and loners like myself like their privacy, so I had to learn how to fight. Sure it took a couple of times but before you know it I became pretty tought and I could handle my own. You'd think a kid like me would need a gang to protect me, but actually I became very scary very fast. Kids spread rumors, gang leader, murderer, psychopath, pyro, you name it I was presumed to be it. Sure I liked to deliver an ass kicking now and then, skip out on a few classes, and attempt to ignore a local girl who seemed determined to keep me in school. Her family owned a restaurant and always treated me to food since my dad was never home to cook. She was always trying to get me to understand the classwork but the way it worked out she just ended up doing the work for me. I think she liked me, but I ain't house trained.
Anyway one day she was being picked on, something happened, and I got a little upset. You see, I can't help but care a little bit for someone, and I can't help but do the right thing when the time calls for it. Thing is, one of the thugs parents was the principle of my school, it seemed that tearing him a new one was a little too much for daddy dearest to handle. So I was expelled, a teacher of mine stood up for me, he was a good guy and all, but I didn't have any faith in him. I wasn't planning to stick around to find out, that is until she asked me too.
Oh you want to know her name then? Alright I'll tell you since you asked so nicely and all. Her name was Aya. Japanese name, japanese school. I had been to Japan once before, but that was a different region. So you guessed it, I speak english and Japanese. A little bit of German, enough French to say 'my cat is on fire', and I never wanted to learn spanish.
Anyway, good ol Aya. She asked me to stay, so I did. My father was upset with me for getting caught fighting, and I got the red headed step child treatment again. Don't get me wrong, my dad isn't a bastard or anything, he just has a thing for throwing martial arts in my face. I like a good old fashioned slug fest personally. Give me a fight with straight punches any day of the week.
Back on track.
Aya, happy. Principle of school, eyeing me like I was his prey. Nice teacher, riding my ass and making me do make up work, claiming it was for my future. The truth? I didn't know what my future was. I knew nothing of destiny. Didn't care to find out. Well, apparently I have this ability, who knew? Apparently it's a part of that martial arts training pops was telling me about. Apparently it's something else that runs in the family. Well, I hadn't known that at the time. Hell, I didn't know that till I noticed who else in my family could do these things. Anyway, I was in another scuffle, same thug different story. He wanted revenge for what I did, this time he left Aya out of it. I was fine with letting them have it the old fashioned way, but they had to bring weapons into the mix. Well as a Joke I said 'don't bring knives to a gun fight' and pointed my index finger, lifting my thumb like it was the hammer. Low and behold I felt the tip of my finger buzz, and I saw a blue ball of energy form. Next thing I knew, the second I pretended to shoot it, it shot. Go figure, right?
Well, it didn't kill the kid, in truth it burned him pretty badly and if he asked for original recipe he was sorely disappointed. Ok, so that KFC reference is kind of corny, still, the fact is, this attack burns you, and it burns on the inside too. Enough about that, You can read about that later. The thing is, nobody could prove anything in court, and I come from a wealthy family.
So why this school you asked?
I warned you against the long version and yet here we are. It's quite simple really, wanna hear the short version now? Good, now I'm telling you.
I got wind that my twin was here, and I had been expelled from my old school, and my father was moving out of Japan. So, I could go to this prison school with my sister, reunite with her after years of separation, stay in Japan where I have become slightly used to the culture. Or I could keep traveling with my father and getting expelled from each school I got into fights at. So here's what I did. Went to court, and against my lawyers (and my fathers) advice, I plead guilty to the crime. After all I had committed it. Thing was, Aya wasn't too pleased. She swore at me, and her parents heard her. To this day I always wondered why they didn't beat her like a red headed step child for that. Maybe it was OK to cuss at someone, but it was not OK to be cussed at, so I tried to cuss out my lawyer instead of my dad to test that theory out.
Yeah that explains the bruise on my face. Dad overheard and still hit me.
That's the short version. So now you heard both versions, satisfied?

Qi Power
Name: Gabriel's Fire (Spirit Gun for you Yu Yu Hakusho fans at home)
Description: Forming a fake gun with his right hand, he points his index finger out, has his thumb up, and his remaining three fingers curled up. He collects Qi energy at the tip of his index finger into a bright blue ball, which he can choose to fire at an opponent.
Beginner: Bullets the size of a golf ball, bout the speed of travel of one too. Energy will burn a hole through clothing and do burn damage to the entry and exit area, and all the places in between. Gabriel only has 3 rounds per day, then he's completely spent.
Requirements: Freshman
Novice: Baseball sized, same speed, same damage description, just more overall area of damage considering the size of the bullets. 4 shots per day.
Requirements: Sophomore
Pro: Bowling ball sized, same speed, energy no longer passes through body. It does surface damage (burns the skin) and knocks the opponent back physically until they either clear it's path, the energy feels almost physical, and with enought strength can be blocked by hand or thrown off course with enough strength (burn damage still applies to hands) 4 shots per day.
Requirements: Junior
Advanced: About 4 feet in diameter now, same rules as the bowling ball sized blasts apply, harder to block. 4 shots per day.
Requirements: Senior
Master: Know the boulder in Indian Jones? Yeah...... you guessed it..... it takes a bear hug to block this things momentum, all the while it's causing burn damage. Best option is simply to dodge or let it knock you out of the way. 1 of these can be fired per day.
Requirements: Senior College
