She wasn't that pale anymore.
That was the first thought in her brain as she removed the layered padding that a fencer normally wore. It hindered her movement, blocking things that she could do so much better without the marshmallow suit.
Underneath the white suit beheld a different figure all together. Instead of what held a slim little girl so many years ago now stood a very powerful body. Gone was the girlish little belly and tiny legs. Now Phoenix had four pack abs and legs that could lift four times her own weight.
Never would she be remotely weak again. Back then she was useless without her foil. A thin sword kept her from her freedom without it in her hands. Phoenix had changed that with kick boxing lessons. She was now a mean street fighter that could take on the boy that got her interested in it in the first place.
Matrim.
Black hair cascaded in a midnight wave down her back, reaching down past her shoulders. Her eyes, once soft and naive were now hard. Cold steel looked out from her orbs instead of the innocent Grey sky of the old days.
Phoenix was a changed woman. A physically stronger woman. And in her black tank top and matching pair of running shorts she tore up the gym as she ran her work out course.
Starting with fencing practice. Long ago had her favored yardstick been replaced with a tempered double folded steel rapier. Light, balanced and with beautiful detailing on the base of the blade. Flames danced in artful swirls at the base and rose up to in case her hand in a web of fire in the hilt.
It was her baby.
Phoenix, like her namesake danced with her weapon. Swooping and slashing like a flame licking the sky. It was an extension of her arm. It was simply...her.
Bare feet whispered over the gym floor. Ever so silently she worked through her routine. So when the first foot fall fell to the ground..she was ready for whoever came.

Matrim once again wasn't able to sleep. He was still recovering from his fight with Luyu Kodiak, his ribs were covered with bandages, his shin had a small bruise, but he was still able to move and bend the way he wanted. His ribs were definitely a little sore. He walked to the gym to get a work out so he could rest. Squats were out of the question, so were declined sit ups if he planned on using heavy weights. Instead he'd do some lower body work outs, strengthen his legs a little.
God this sucks, a few more days and a little more rest should get me back to my normal routine though... Then I can get back to normal life without having to worry about being too banged up. Hey..... woman! With a sword!
Matrim walked in and looked at the woman with her sword. He started to walk closer and decided to speak out, "Hey.... Are you a teacher or something? I haven't seen you around......"
A sword.... a very nice sword...... a potentially frightening, but shiny, sword.......
"I'm Matrim, I'm a student here......." Matrim started to get closer and closer, he was wearing very little, just gym shorts, the bandages on his chest, and some wrappings on his feet and ankles so he wouldn't do any damage to himself kicking a punching bag.

The Principal looked over the data base again. He couldn't believe what he saw. His old high school friend was here? It actually made him burst out laughing. "Well she isn't a Ice Queen anymore but I can guarentee that she will still be called the french maid." he told himself as he got up. He walked out of his office in the science hall but not without taking a wide belt and putting it around his waist so it hung a little bit further down on one side.
It was weighted down by his new hobby. Making odd bombs, well not odd in the sense they were useless but odd in the sense that he knew how to make them. These were just small ones that wouldn't last long but he hoped to make the them stronger and more powerful.
He walked the halls wondering where his High school friend would be. He really only had 3 friends back at 253, The french maid, Luke and Samara. But still things were never dull around them. He even remembered the first time he had met the french maid. That...Was very fun. Fist vs Yardstick in a 'Jamboree' she called it in the gym.
His eyes went wide. "Bloody ashes I'm an idiot thats where she is." he said as he turned the corner and moved towards the gym. This would be just like old times only thing is, they would have more fighting experience. But the name calling...That would never change.
Once he reached the Gym he already saw mini-me there, and sure enough Phoenix was there with what looked like a very intriquite sword. He stood in the doorway and gave a grin. "Well, well, well, what do we have here ladies and gentlemen? A little french maid in our midst?" He said with a laugh as he fully entered the Gym. He was wearing a black T-shirt with the sleeves torn off, a pair of cargo shorts and black Vans tennis shoes.

Pure malice turned on the boy as he interrupted her time of peace. This of course vanished as quickly as it came. Phoenix no longer showed emotions.
Or so she thought.
The boy before was the spitting image of a friend. A very dear old friend. One in which she ran loops around in foot races.
She missed Luke.
" Bonjour, I'm the new French teacher here." She smiled warmly. Students were a minor joy in her life. A joy she cherished very much.
And then she heard the name.
And was instantly transported to a better time. Like when she and Matrim first met in the Gym at 253. It was a draw and they both wound up needing serious medical attention.
"Nice name...Matrim." Phoenix spoke in her barely noticeable accent. ' I'm Phoenix...or in your case, Ms. Du'Launce."
Another smile.
Phoenix turned the boy...and her eyes landed on the man just as he spoke.
Without wanting too her reflexes kicked in. The one man who could get her to respond like that by the sound of his voice alone...was one Matrim Aldon.
" Is that bullshit coming from a filthy little tavern wench?"
A smile broke out...let's call it a wide ear splitting grin. Tanned legs pumped as she flew into his arm and gave him a giant bear hug. The best she could muster.
Then she placed her feet back down on the ground...and flipped him over her shoulder.
While kneeing him in the stomach.
And headbutting him.
JUST to prove she could fight dirty now. He used to tease her so bad about fighting like a proper princess. Phoenix felt the need to show him otherwise.
It was like she was fourteen again. She, for that split second wore her heart on her sleeve.
All because of Matrim Aldon.

Matrim watched, "They..... know each other......?"
Pheonix huh.... De'Luance.... sounds familiar. Maybe she's famous or something. Matrim knows her? Matrim! I need to ask him! He never did get back to me on that! Wonder what his wife said...
"Did that just happen?" Matrim asked as he watched the scene start to go down. He wasn't sure if that was even called for, "Uhh............ ouch......"
Ok! This woman is clearly sneaky and cheap as hell! Don't piss her off whilst not wearing a cup. got it.
"Uhh, hate to break up the friendly reunion, Matrim, did my dad know Ms. Du'Launce? Her name seems familiar...."

He grinned as she flew over to hug him. It had been years since he had seen his old friend Phoenix. She was his first friend back in High school and one of the best friends he ever had in his life.
But that's when shit went down. She threw him over her shoulder, headbutting him and kneeing him in the stomach. Evidently she had some new moves, well so did he.
When his head was right next to hers, he thrust his arms to her shoulders, clamping down with is augmented arms and hands and tried to spin as fast as possible in the air taking her off her feet around himself in the air and throwing her feet first to the ground hard. Didn't know if she would regain her balance from that but it definitely would be a shock to her he hoped.
He landed on a foot and almost a knee but the ball of his foot landed and stayed first. He stood up with a grin. "Well looks like the Fanged Vagoo finally did learn something from my teachings." He said with a laugh and went over to her and gave her a hug. "Bloody ashes, it really has been to long Phoenix."

Phoenix blinked. It had all happend to fast she didn't even know what to think. One second she was throwing him down and the next she was lying on her butt.
" Wow, impressive."
Phoenix hugged her friend back and looked around. The boy had asked something. " Did I know your father?" She looked questioningly at Matrim. Sure he looked like Luke....but she never knew he had a kid.
As a teen herself, the only way she felt connected with him after being taken away form 253 was listening to his music. Luke created such beautiful music.
Phoenix sighed, " More then likely not kid. Not unless your father went to 253."

The Big Mat gave a laugh. So mini-me had asked Phoenix if she knew his father. She did, hell she was there that one day with Luke, himself and Samara when Mat was going to teach them to learn boxing. Only Phoenix had kept up with him.
Mat let go of Phoenix and turned to the side so he could look at both of them fairly easy. "Yeah mini-me, she knows your father." He said and turned to Phoenix. "That's Matrim Gallagher, Luke's son, and my soon to be adopted son." He said and turned back to mini-me.
"Yeah that's right kid, Emma said 'Yes', you got a mom and a sister now along with me as a dad." He said laughing. He then got an idea, one he hadn't thought of in a while. He turned to Phoenix grinning. "Hey Phoenix, how about a 'yard stick jamboree' just like old times, only this time, we fight my way." He said grinning even more. "And lets give mini-me here the good ol' freshman Friday routine."
He cracked his knuckles as he stared menacingly at the blue haired child. Oh, he would get wrecked soon, no doubt about that, even if Phoenix didn't team up with him.

Matrim laughed, "Heh, so you got the misses on board, I guess that's good for me, I should let you know I'm not exactly house broken. And don't expect me to listen to you all the time, five years on my own, I'm not exactly good at barking orders, but I'm like a stray cat, as long as you keep feeding me I'll keep coming home."
Matrim turned toward Pheonix, as Matrim Aldon called her, "To avoid confusion you can just call me Mat. Oh, and I hope you know, I'm not calling you dad, feels to...... weird." Matrim directed that last part to his red headed counterpart.
Huh.... a sister and a mother. Two things I have never had in my life. Well, a mother for maybe a few minutes, or an hour tops..... but I don't exactly have memories from my birth now do I?
"I'll come up with a name to call yeh though. It's just weird calling you Matrim, since that's my name. Oh, and if you plan on fighting me, I should let you know I'm tougher then I look."
Matrim wasn't afraid of cracking knuckles and anything as like that. That stuff was all for show anyhow.
Two teachers at once? Or am I partnering up with one of these two chumps. Either way I'm always down for an old fashioned brawl.
