Freshman History IV: A New Hope

[The Doctor]

A Long Time Ago, In A History Building Far,
Far Away....

The Doctor perfected his invention, he was jumping for joy and glee, running into the TARDIS and putting it away immediately so he didn't drop it or let it fall into the wrong hands. He had completed the Sonic Mac 2.0, so far bringing the total to 2 upgrades for students MAC's. Of course, they'd have to work for them, and the second one was for Upperclassmen only. But the fact remained he had worked out all of the kinks, kept it from being an overpowered monstrosity, and it didn't kickback on the user if they knew what they were doing.

He prepared for history class having taken some time off to deal with the recent stress in his job as Vice Principal. He had to deal with Kane's death as well as Matrim's heart surgery as well as saving a group of students from cybermen.

What, you don't remember the cybermen?

Well..... let's just say you shouldn't know too much about your own future......

Luckily the Doctor knew the future for the students, you see, he had been gone to an area years ahead of right now, funny thing about time. Well, anyway, he had made his way back to this time to fulfill his duty as the teacher for this school, he had hoped however, that he would have chosen a TA by now.

"I'll probably end up choosing Reira... although I'd hate to bring that upon her. I really really don't want to have a technopath in the TARDIS." He took a moment to thank himself for scanning the boy when he met him to find out what his Qi ability was. He didn't have anything personal against the boy, but this technology is better left completely unknown by those in this time line who have an outside chance at comprehending it.

"Alright then!" The Doctor said, clearing his desk, and making sure the time was right, "Class is officially re-opened!"

5 minutes passed and the Doctor checked the clock, then he checked the calendar, "Oh yeah...... it's saturday...."

-2 day's later-

"Alright!" The Doctor said stepping out of the TARDIS, having traveled through the weekend to the next monday, "Class is NOW officially re-opened!"

[Naia]

Naia strode purposefully down the hallway. She wore white pants with a matching white scarf over a jet black tunic. All of her clothing was made of soft silk, and her feet wore hand-made sandals from the old woman who had taken her in.

When signing up for classes, the girl had been fascinated to discover that she could take a course in History. Having lost her memory, she dearly wished to know as much about the past, both hers and the world's, as she possibly could. Darien had seemed so shocked that she hadn't even known who Hitler was, perhaps she would find out today, in this class.

Stepping into the room, the girl saw that she was the first one to class. Tucking a lock of her loose black hair out of her face, she walked to the center of the chairs and placed her notebook on the adjoined desk. Looking to the front of her class, she saw an excited-looking man who she supposed was the teacher.

Not sure what to do, she smiled at him and inclined her head a little, "Hello Professor, my name is Naia Sama." In truth, she wasn't sure if he was a professor, but if he wasn't then it would only be a compliment. Sitting down, she folded her hands as the viper wound around her ankle adjusted itself.

[Alex]

Alex walked down the hallway, his bag slung over his shoulder. History class. Time to see the wonders of The Doc's class. He was wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a black jacket today. He pulled his MAC out from his jeans pocket and opened the door, and entered into the classroom.

" Doctor." he merely said, nodding at the teacher before taking a window seat and pulling out his notebook and pencil bag. He then noticed he was not alone, there was another student here too, a girl, and after giving her a quick glance he noticed, much to his shock and fascination, there was a snake, more specifically, a viper, that was wounded around her ankle, he at first thought it was just an accessory until it adjusted itself, making his eyes flashing in surprise, it was alive, it was really alive!

He quickly looked away and stared out the window, he didn't want to be rude and stare for a long time, eitherwise she'd probably think he was weird. It was however, very fascinating, a viper, how intriguing. He then heard the girl speak, giving her name. "Hello Professor, my name is Naia Sama." Naia. Alex kept that mind, in case he ever talked to her. Did she call him Professor? That was...kind of formal wasn't it? Oh well, to each his own, or her, in this case. He hoped more people would come, two people in History class? That's... a very small class, that's for sure.

[The Doctor]

"Doctor, actually. Just call be Doctor." The Doctor said to naia.

"Doctor." Alex said walking in to the classroom.

"See? Just like that. Hello Alex, I'm happy you came to class." The Doctor wondered in his head where they could go this time. Last time they had to cut the journey short because a student didn't know the meaning of the word 'eat'. Well, hopefully they could have a full class today. Of course only 10 or so minutes would actually pass in real time, much longer then that would have occurred for the class.

"Oh two students..... two students..... what to do about that........ we'll wait another 3 minutes before we head out. I believe you two have never been in any of my classes, correct?"

[Matrim]

Matrim walked into class dressed in his usual attire, but wearing the Doctor's chucks that he borrowed. He strutted in front of the Doc and turned to him, "Ta dah! I decided to bring these back. Got another pair in my bag. Sorry I took these from you and didn't show up to the next class. Anyway, I'm here now."

Matrim turned to the class, "Huh, no german, no Jeremiah, and not a single member of the Awren family to be seen.... you can hardly call this a normal class.... Red!"

Matrim called out red instead of Alex as a clear sign that he remembered what the kid named him. It worked well since he made fire with his Qi, and Matrim's was blue obviously because of his hair color. He suppose Atternity should be green since that's the color he always wore. Which left Justin.... who's last name was green..... maybe they could fight to the death for the code name.....

That would be pretty awesome.... Justin would shoot bullets with the guns in the school, Aternity would return them at Justin via portal..... a lot of people getting shot in that fight....

Matrim's thoughts wandered as he took a seat next to Alex. "You'll like this class, we travel through time and space a lot."

[Alex]

"Doctor, actually. Just call me Doctor." Alex heard him say as he walked into the classroom, which was exactly what he did. "See? Just like that. Hello Alex, I'm happy you came to class." Alex nodded, yeah, he did come to class, it was after all, his first time in The Doc's class, so honestly, he didn't know what to expect. Now that he was sitting in his desk, currently staring out the window, he heard The Doc speak. "Oh two students..... two students..... what to do about that........ we'll wait another 3 minutes before we head out. I believe you two have never been in any of my classes, correct?"

" Correct Doctor." Alex replied, while still looking out the window, " First time here." The sunlight shined through the window, a clear blue sky with not a single cloud in sight, that was a nice day alright. Huh? Head out? Head out where? Alex wondered as he stared out at the grounds, while he sat there, another voice shot out, a familiar voice. "Ta dah! I decided to bring these back. Got another pair in my bag. Sorry I took these from you and didn't show up to the next class. Anyway, I'm here now."

Was it? Yes it was, Alex turned his head to confirm it, it was Matrim. "Huh, no german, no Jeremiah, and not a single member of the Awren family to be seen.... you can hardly call this a normal class.... Red!" ...did he just call Alex, " Red?" He did, as Alex sighed under his breath, ah well, whatever. " If it isn't Blue." he replied, using the name Matrim choose himself, oh great, they sounded like a Super Sentai team, what's next? Green? Yellow? Pink?

He watched as Matrim sat down next to him, though he looked like he was lost in thought. " What, planning on giving other people colours?" he asked, slightly amused. Matrim however, spoke, he was probably too lost in thought to hear what Alex said. "You'll like this class, we travel through time and space a lot." Interesting, very interesting. Alex wouldn't mind going back to the old Japanese eras, like during the samurai times, or even the Chinese dynasties. This class was getting interesting already, and it hadn't even started yet.

OOC: Anyone's who wondering what I meant by Super Sentai team, here a simple equation:

Super Sentai (Japan) = Power Rangers (USA)

[Naia]

Naia sat still while Doctor spoke. "Doctor, actually. Just call be Doctor." She smiled and nodded. Alright, Doctor it would be. As she was about to say something, her teeth clicked together when a boy walked in, saying 'Doctor' at Doctor.

"See? Just like that. Hello Alex, I'm happy you came to class." She grinned, apparently this boy's name was Alex. "Oh two students..... two students..... what to do about that........ we'll wait another 3 minutes before we head out. I believe you two have never been in any of my classes, correct?" She shook her head, no she had not been in his class before. Shifting, the serpent around her ankle shifted as well. It could feel her unease. Head out? Where were they going?

Then a blue-haired boy came in and he and the Alex boy started talking about colors. She wasn't really paying attention, wondering where they were going. "You'll like this class, we travel through time and space a lot."

WHAT?!?!?!?

Naia could barely contain her excitement. Perhaps Doctor could help her unravel the secrets of her past. She wished that she had been famous or something, so that Doctor could have recognized her right away. If only she was a creature of legend, like Sita. Then he would be sure to recognize her.

"Excuse me," she said confidently to the blue-haired boy, "I wasn't trying to eavedrop, but did I hear you correctly? He is able to travel through time?"

Naia's heart pounded.

[Matrim]

"And space. Don't forget space. The only thing is, we can't go anywhere that we've already been, so... no meeting ourselves or anything. Something about a paradox or something.... apparently we could die if that happens. Anyway, we watched the earth blow up, it was pretty cool, then we saw the moons creation, well, when the hunk later known as the moon started circling the earth anyway. I'm Matrim by the way, I don't believe we've met."

Matrim got up and walked to her desk holding out his hand to greet the girl. He wasn't being a flirt or anything, he just liked knowing who people were, and there Qi's, "Uhh..... is that a snake?"

I really hate snakes......

[Naia]

"And space. Don't forget space. The only thing is, we can't go anywhere that we've already been, so... no meeting ourselves or anything. Something about a paradox or something.... apparently we could die if that happens. Anyway, we watched the earth blow up, it was pretty cool, then we saw the moons creation, well, when the hunk later known as the moon started circling the earth anyway. I'm Matrim by the way, I don't believe we've met." The blue haired boy said as he walked over to her. She was intrigued, that was for sure. Naia smiled up at him and shook his hand, "I am Naia, it is good to meet you Matrim."


"Uhh..... is that a snake?" She was surprised for a moment and then looked down. Oh yes, the viper was still wrapped around her ankle. "OH!" She laughed and saw the discomfort on his face, "Don't worry, he won't move. Think of him as an anklet, or a piece of jewelry. I guarantee it." Naia's eyes sparkled at she spoke to the friendly boy.

"So, we cannot travel back to places we have been? That is a bit of a dissapointment." Oh well, perhaps Doctor could help her figure out her past in other ways. "You have had history before, I take it? It sounds amazing."

[Reira]

Reira was having a wierd but interesting dream. Can't say that she would be able to remember it when she woke up, but for now, she wanted it to continue. A loud beeping sound began playing in her dream..a sound that was beginning to become quite irritating..and then finally she woke up. Eyes opening wide she glanced at her beeping alarm clock and gawked at it. Typical. Slept in again. It was going to be one of those days.

Jumping out of bed, she rushed to finish all the morning essentials. She hurridly dressed herself in a black plaid mini skirt, black knee high converse, a white boy beater, complete with a black sweater. Grabbing her book bag, and a garnola bar, she rushed out her dorm door.

Trying to run, was a little hard because she was still..well still trying to wake up a little, but she managed. By no time, she was in the history building, standing infront of the Doc's classroom. Her half eaten garnola bar was sticking out of her mouth, she was still working on that.

Opening the door, she walked in and immediately started talking, taking her breakfast out of her mouth. "Morning Doc, sorry I'm late! Had a lot of homework, stayed up late, slept through two of my alarms, hope you don't mind me eating in your class, need breakfast!" That being said, she finally had the chance to see who was going to be in this class with her. To her surprise, Matrim and Alex were here, along with another girl, with a wicked looking pet snake thing!

She flopped in a desk infront of Matrim and diagonal from Alex. "Hey Mat, Hi Alex," she said with a smile. "I'm excited for this class! I wonder if we will get to use the TARDIS today?" Finishing her breakfast, she turned to the girl. "That snake doesn't bite does it?," she said grinning. She wondered if the guys asked about it before her...it looked so real that she supressed the urge to poke it. Of course, that wouldn't be very cool now would it.

[Alex]

"Excuse me, I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but did I hear you correctly? He is able to travel through time?" "And space. Don't forget space. The only thing is, we can't go anywhere that we've already been, so... no meeting ourselves or anything. Something about a paradox or something.... apparently we could die if that happens. That was the basic gist of the conversation that took place between Matrim and Naia, Alex just sat there, listening but staring out the window.

"OH! Don't worry, he won't move. Think of him as an anklet, or a piece of jewelry. I guarantee it. So, we cannot travel back to places we have been? That is a bit of a disappointment. You have had history before, I take it? It sounds amazing." Yeah, even Alex had to admit, it did sound amazing, and they hadn't even started yet. Alex looked around, so far, there was only three people here, him Matrim, and Naia. No matter how many ways you put it, it was still a small class. Alex went back to looking out the window, that is, until he heard a familiar voice.

"Morning Doc, sorry I'm late! Had a lot of homework, stayed up late, slept through two of my alarms, hope you don't mind me eating in your class, need breakfast!" Alex turned his head, and grinned. It was Reira, ...with a half-eaten granola bar in her mouth. Real classy alright. He saw her walk over after seeing him and Matrim, and grinned at her as she sat down in front of Matrim, diagonal from him. "Hey Mat, Hi Alex." "Hey Reira." he replied, " Late breakfast huh?" he said teasingly, nodding at the granola bar.

"I'm excited for this class! I wonder if we will get to use the TARDIS today?"Alex shrugged, he didn't know, The Doc hadn't said anything yet. He saw her turn to Naia and look at the viper wrapped around her ankle. "That snake doesn't bite does it?" Alex hoped it didn't, though he had to admit, it did fascinate him, no one he knew ever had a snake, let alone a viper. Very interesting indeed...

[The Doctor]

"Well....." The Doctor said thinking to himself, "I suppose it wouldn't happen again...." He scratched his head staring blankly at the ceiling from his computer chair which he was leaning back on now, feet on his desk.

"Umm, I guess I'll leave it up to you lot then. Class vote, where do we want to go today? There's always the distant future, another planet, the past, another planet present time, or even the beginning or end of a major historical event....."

The Doctor decided he would use the TARDIS again. After all, the only way to get someone extremely interested in history would be to show them it. After all, history was happening here, now, and it was exciting. You shouldn't wish you were in another time, you should be proud of the time you came from.

Of course, there was no time or place for a time lord to belong anymore.

"So what shall it be? We could always go to the library, an entire planet with a million million books, or we could go to new new york.... well I suppose technically it would be new new new new new york..... well thats not important."

[Alex]

"Umm, I guess I'll leave it up to you lot then. Class vote, where do we want to go today? There's always the distant future, another planet, the past, another planet present time, or even the beginning or end of a major historical event....." Alex took a moment to think, where did he want to go? There were a lot of places, but he had to pick somewhere, or some time in this case.

"So what shall it be? We could always go to the library, an entire planet with a million million books, or we could go to new new york.... well I suppose technically it would be new new new new new york..... well thats not important." A library? As much as Alex liked reading, in this case, uh no, thanks.

Alex finally made his decision, and voiced his thought. " I wouldn't mind going back to the old Japanese era, around the time samurais were around." he said, looking at The Doc. " Either that, or Ancient Greece." he added, shrugging his shoulders. That was his thoughts, what the others wanted, he had no idea, so he waited to see what the other three wanted to go to.

[Reira]

Hmm where should they go? The Doctor was being very genorous allowing them to choose their destination. There was so many places Reira wanted to go to! She was really interested in the olden days, the classical times, like the Renaissance in Florence, or major historical times in Volterra, Italy. So many decisions, she couldn't even comprehend that she could see the future as well! Maybe she should consider going to somewhere really really really futuristic.

"So what shall it be? We could always go to the library, an entire planet with a million million books, or we could go to new new york.... well I suppose technically it would be new new new new new york..... well thats not important." Reira shruddered at the thought of a planet filled with nothing but books! "How about, somewhere in the early 14th and 15th century?"

"I wouldn't mind going back to the old Japanese era, around the time samurais were around." Alex said, looking at The Doc." Either that, or Ancient Greece." Reira beamed at this proposal. She had forgotten all about Feudal Japan. It was definately an interesting era. She thanked Alex inwardly for helping her make up her mind.

"I like the idea of Feudal Japan. Maybe we'll get caught up in all their lore about demons and such." Could people tell she was excited? Her life pretty much ran on the word 'interesting' and this was very interesting indeed.

[Matrim]

"Japanese era huh...... fourteenth or fifteenth century........ what would I want to see....." Matrim thought about it for awhile, he reflected on everything they saw. The one thing he was thinking about was mysteries. Something that was unknown, then again, the Doctor did already tell them about Roanoke.

"I'm with Reira on this one, and Alex..... geez.... old england possibly? Old asia? I can't decide....."

Matrim thought about it, he couldn't decide, just that he wanted to see an old war, but the Doc was probably sick of war.

"Uhhhh, I want to see something.... I don't know, something major. Something, cool."

As long as I don't have a heart attack this time.
