Ms. L glared at Austin until the sound of music caught her ears. It was soothing yes but being played at the wrong time. She turned her icy glare to the next child, she wasn't sure if he had slipped in or been there the whole time. All she knew was that she would check the door's database and find out if she had two detentions to give for being late or just one.
She smiled warmly at the boys then turned to her back chalkboard. Picking up her eraser she erased the few marks on the board befor turning and throwing it at the boy playing music. "Noise makers of any sort are not allowed unless I state otherwise. As relaxing as your tune is I don't need it right now so shut it!"
Ms. L was getting tired of all her interuptions so she decided to ignore the hands in the air. "An Allusion is a reference to a person place or event in writing. It is also used in comics and cartoons as you might have seen."

Alex turned his gaze as a young guy entered the room, clearly out of breath. He watched as he walked over and took a seat nearby. He took out his pen and notebook, and accidentally dropped his pencils and erasers. One pencil rolled and hit Alex's foot, which made Alex look down, his arm still in the air. He stretched his right arm and picked up the pencil, his left arm still in the air.
He placed the pencil on the guys desk and then focused his attention back to the front. As he sat there, it was clear Ms. L was getting ticked off, very ticked off. She exchanged her stainless steel yardstick for a wooden one, and walking to the guy who had walked in, smashed it on the poor guys head.
Although Alex's expression was calm, inside, he was cringing inside. Poor kid didn't deserve it, but what could Alex do? He may be the Principal's son, but as far as power goes, Alex had zero-to-none. Alex then heard...music? The music sounded pretty familiar. Another guy walked in, and Alex recognized the guy as Joar, from his music class, and he was playing his syrinx.
Oh man, that was the worst time to be playing. As Ms. L turned to the chalkboard, she picked up the eraser, erased some marks, and then swiftly turned and threw it at Joar. Ouch. Alex once again, cringed inside. Ms. L then gave the answer to her question, as Alex looked down at what he wrote, he found he was right. " Huh, so I'm right." he thought.
OOC: Why did the throwing of an eraser remind me of Tales of Symphonia? XD

Matrim watched as everything unfolded. The boy from his art class was hit on the head by the teacher...
Note to self... she likes hitting people with yardsticks.....
Poor kid didn't stand a chance, he took a hit to the hid with that yardstick, and for a split second Matrim could have sworn he saw the kid tear up. He cringed in pain without making any noise, returning his eyes up front as the teacher walked back to her board.
The boy from his music class playing his weird flute like instrument had came into the classroom.
You poor.... poor soul.....
Sure enough, the teacher ended up throwing an eraser at him. Although, Matrim expected it to be worse.
"Noise makers of any sort are not allowed unless I state otherwise. As relaxing as your tune is I don't need it right now so shut it! An Allusion is a reference to a person place or event in writing. It is also used in comics and cartoons as you might have seen."
Noted.... I guess it's true. You learn something new everyday....
Matrim wrote down the definition next to the word. He did so and then doodled a little kid getting hit with a yard stick, and another with an eraser shooting through a kids face, as if it were shot from a cannon, above these doodles he wrote 'casualties'.

Swartz cringed as the shy boy from Sex Ed was hit with the Yard stick, Poor guy, I feel bad for him. The next person walked in playing a musical intrument, and he was hit too. Him, I don't feel sorry about, he had it coming. Swartz shrugged as the teacher explained Allusion, he had it right anyway. He lowered his hand and picked up his pencil, spinning it on his finger again. If she hates noise, at least she isn't one of those teachers that doesn't know anything about the subject they are teaching. He listened carefully, waiting for Mrs. L to say whatever was next.

He still played for a few seconds before he saw a chalkboard eraser fly towards his head. He tilted his head a bit to the side as it flew past his head and blinked a few times. She then had said no noise was allowed in the room and told him to shut it. He shrugged and put it in his knee pocket of his cargo pants.
He took out some paper and a pencil from his black messenger backpack. He then wrote down what she had said about Allusions. Evidently that was what the class had been studying before he and the other boy had come in.
He then looked around the room. He saw 3 people he knew. The two boys from his music class. The blue haired one being Matrim and the black haired one being Alex. He knew they played at least guitar but didn't know much else. He continued to scan the room and then his eyes fell upon the girl from the meadow. Sephora.
The girl was wearing a black jacket and white pants and sandals He couldn't tell what shirt she had under the jacket nor did he really care. He then passed her figure seeing the boy who had been hit and another boy who he didn't know of. If this was the class then it would be either fairly easy to get into trouble or really easy to stay quiet.

Sephora had succesfully stopped paying attention when she heard the door open. Looking up, she recognized the skinny boy from her sex ed class. She willed him to sit down, for Ms. L didn't seem the type to like lateness. It all happened in slow motion, the yardstick cracked onto his head hard enough to make her cringe. Sephora herself would have thrown a punch at the woman, but the boy just stood there, then hurried to a seat, which happened to be near her. Sephora made a mental note to see if he was alright after class, she wasn't fool enough to speak right now. So instead she reached out and touched his eblow, catching his attention. Sephora gave him a reassuring smile, he looked so frightened.
As if to escalade the situation, Sephora then heard music. In walked Joar, playing the instrument he had been playing in the meadow. Her eyes widened, wondering what would happen to him. The eraser flew and she closed her eyes, not wanting to see if it hit him or not.
"An Allusion is a reference to a person place or event in writing. It is also used in comics and cartoons as you might have seen." Sephora wrote it down, smiling at Joar as he passed by her. She decided that zoning would be a bad idea, since Ms. L didn't seem to be in a great mood.

OOC: Cause in the beginning Lloyd is sleeping standing up and Raine throws an eraser at him.
Ms. L was tired by now, all the interruptions at least they knew what would happen if anything else disturbed her. "Now I want you all to create your own sort of an illusion as homework. You can do anything as long as it is done through literature." She noticed she had regained Sephora's attention again. This was good for her because she had been next on Ms. L's list.
"I want it to be class room appropriate. If it isn't you will serve a detention end of story. Now who is confused about what I want?" She scanned the class to see if any hands would raise. "Or perhaps who would like an example of an Allusion?" She carefully walked back to the front of the class and sat on her desk waiting for hands to be raised.

Matrim understood it now, but he thought that it would be better to hear an example. Afterall, it was better to make sure you understood something completely, then to pretend you did and make an ass out of yourself when you didn't understand the thing.
Our father who art in heaven....
He said in his head raising his hand, wondering what ungodly thing might happen to him for needing an example....
Hallowed be they name...
His hand was almost ear level now.
Thy Kingdom come, they will be done in earth as it is in heaven...
The hairs on the back of his neck stuck out, his spine got a cold feeling as he feared the worst, his hand just now getting towards the top of his head.
Give us this day our daily bread...
His elbow was now slightly bent, and stretching higher,
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us
He was now starting to sit up straight, as if to emphasize how courageous he felt for raising his hand.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
His hand was now fully extended up, his palm facing the front of the class, his mouth clenched shut so that he didn't make any noise.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
He braced himself for the worst. She may have been totally cute, but she seemed totally unforgiving of noise, he wondered how she felt about incompetence. But somewhere in the back of his mind he knew somebody else wanted an example too.

Austin wrote on his paper with a blue pen, ditching the pencil since it had broken.
An Allusion is a reference to a person place or event in writing. Never talk in class. Never show up late ever again..... bandage head.....
The girl near him touched his elbow, he suddenly shivered, and felt completely overwhelmed. He couldn't help but lock up, barely able to move much. He didn't get much human contact, and a girl touching his elbow was the most he had for quite some time, with the exception of getting caught in the middle of that gang fight..... She smiled at him, as if trying to comfort him, he gave an akward smile back, forcing himself to try and be normal. He went back to paying attention to the teacher for fear of being hit with something.
"Now I want you all to create your own sort of an illusion as homework. You can do anything as long as it is done through literature. I want it to be class room appropriate. If it isn't you will serve a detention end of story. Now who is confused about what I want? Or perhaps who would like an example of an Allusion."
Austin was broken, shy, and decided he would do nothing short of getting the hell out of there when they were dismissed. Which included raising his hand. He was not about to do that at this moment. Then the kid from his art class did. The blue haired boy slowly raised his hand, obviously slightly frightened that it was a set up for the teacher to heave another object or hit him on the head with something like she did to Austin.
It still hurts.... Austin thought to himself.

One hand huh? Either they are scared, stupid or know what they are doing... Ms. L sighed as she smiled at Matrim. It showed courage to do anything after the last few escapades. Still she nodded her head and turned to her bored. "Thank you Matrim. Now an Allusion varies based on audience." She slowly began to write on the board. "Based on the fact I don't know any of you, or how intelligent or well educated you might be I will provide two examples." Slowly on the left half of the board she produced a poem then began on the right side for the second. The left half read. Journey
I hold my sword high as I set out. The sun sets quickly so I must hurry across. Still I had no doubt. I must hurry to fight the boss. Yet slowly night comes. And the bridge is not kind. It seems I must wait some. Yet I hear something from behind. It strikes with a horrible fury. This time there is no worry. For I have a bottle with a fairy. This is much better than dairy. Where as the second half read. Edgar Allan Poe: El Dorado
Gaily bedight, A gallant night In sunshine and in shadow, Had journeyed long, Singing a song, In search of El Dorado.
But he grew old -- This knight so bold -- And -- o'er his heart a shadow Fell as he found No spot of ground That looked like El Dorado.
And, as his strength Failed him at length, He met a pilgrim shadow -- "Shadow," said he, "Where can it be -- This land of El Dorado?"
"Over the Mountains Of the Moon, Down the Valley of the Shadow, Ride, boldly ride," The shade replied -- "If you seek for El Dorado."
"Who can see the Allusions?" Ms. L smiled once more as she turned back to the students waiting to see who might know them.

Joar sat there silently leaning back onto the chair as he listened to what was going on. They seemed to be talking about Allusions. The act of taking something from written or spoken material and put it into another situation. Seemed easy enough.
He watched as Matrim raised his hand, struggling with it as most likely he either thought he would get hit or for some other unforeseen reason. He shrugged and watched as the teacher turned to the board and wrote two entries onto it.
They were poems at least he thought they were poems. One of Poe and another of someone he didn't recognize. He read then quickly as he heard she asked for the students to find an allusion in the two poems or short stories. Hmm...Down the Valley of the Shadow...Sounds like a biblical reference to Hell doesn't it? He asked his winged friend who was somewhere else on campus.
Eh. Sounds like it but I'm not sure, depends on the context. But hey, if you get it wrong and get hit not my fault. It said through their telepathic link. Joar sighed. Well here goes nothing, either I get it right and I have a possibility of redemption or I get it wrong and I get damnation...Hey that rhymed He thought and laughed inside his own head.
He took a breath and raised his hand, to him things started slowing down as though he were on an adrenaline spike or in the movie Matrix. It didn't bother him but it just got annoying since it seemed that the time of him raising his hand felt endless.

Matrim was not hit.
HAAAAAALELUJAH!
Matrim mentally had a group of people patting him on the back, him giving a speech saying things like, no thank you, it was nothing at all, just doint my job. Of course, then she put examples on the board, asking student's to pick out what they though was an allusion.
Matrim blinked over and over, reading and re-reading the poems still drawing a blank. He knew nothing of it all. He hoped someone would raise their hand, and just as he was going to duck and cover to get out of her eye-sight Joar raised his hand.
My saviour!
Matrim patiently awaited for Joar to be called upon so he could get the answer, know the example, and understand it all.
Thank god for students who raise their hands. I did my part, and that kid from music class did his.

Ms. L smiled she watched her class squirm as they tried to figure it out. It was obvious they would need a lesson on poetry as well. Perhaps even poetry analysis. Then the boy who was playing music raised his hand. He didn't seem the type to know literature. Though in her eyes there was no wrong answer. That is unless your answer was stupid.
So she pointed to him then to the board. "So the Musical Child knows...which one do you wish to answer for. Extra credit if you know them both." She thought perhaps he might know the first one which was her own poem.

He looked at the teacher as she called on him. She told the class that if you answered both right you would get bonus points. With a display like he had before he would need those extra points.
He took a breath and stood up, brushing a strand of hair from his face. "Well since I need the points...I'll go for both, but first lets go with Edgar Allen Poe...I'd like to say it has a biblical reference due to the fact that Poe referenced The valley of the shadow, which Jesus Christ went down the Valley of Shadow during the time he was dead but before the resurrection. I believe anyway." he said.
He hoped he was right about that, he had no room for error. He then thought about the second one for a moment. He knew this sounded familiar but he could hardly pinpoint it on what. "Hmm, well this one is fantasy...and it has fairies...and milk? I remember something like this. Oh what was it called..Zel-something...uh.." He tried to think of the name of what it was referring to. Then it hit him, "Zelda, thats it!" he said calmly but in a relieved tone for remembering it. Hopefully he would get the points and make up for what he did before.

Ms. L laughed quietly to herself as he struggled with finding the second one. She had thought this one would be easier for his generation, guess not.
Finally however he got it with a blurt out of Zelda. "You are right, the first one which is my own poem is indeed a reference to Zelda, Ocarina of Time to be exact. As for Poe, I will take your answer. So now class you can see how easy it is?" She was hoping that they did for just then the dismissal bell rang.
"Hold up..." She called out pointing at Joar and Austin. "You two stay for a moment....the others can leave."
